Basketball: Indians face Newport Wildcats on Saturday

Day 4 Tickets for the 2024 King of the Bluegrass Tournament are available at gofan.co for $15 plus fees. Your phone acts as your ticket, and there are no cash sales.

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

The Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team returns to action as they take on the Newport Wildcats at 8pmCT/9pmET on Saturday, December 21, 2024, in the third round of the Chad Gardner Law King of the Bluegrass Basketball Tournament at Fairdale High School in Louisville.

The Wildcats come off a 14-point win over Mater Lakes Academy out of Florida in the 2nd round of King of the Bluegrass. The Wildcats do most of their offensive damage inside the arc, attempting just 7 shots from distance in that last outing. They were led in scoring during their last game by Junior James Turner and Senior Adonaje Lowe, with 16 and 12 respectively. Sophomore Griffin Starks also marked a double/double for the Wildcats with 11 points and 14 rebounds in that game against Mater Lakes.

The Indians will look to slow down the inside attack as much as possible in this matchup, and hope to win the 3 point count by a wide margin. This game will be back in the East Gym at Fairdale High School, 1001 Fairdale Rd., Fairdale, KY, the same that the Indians played in last night in their victory over Trinity.

Letter: Town Branch

Ann Heskamp Curtis writes:
I would love to see a photographic overview (perhaps even a drone view?) of the path of the Town Branch today.... from its Tutt Street beginning to its emptying into Russell Creek near the Campbellsville Street bridge.

I used to wade in the branch near my grandfather's home at the foot of Jamestown Hill. The water was clear and there were minnows swimming in it.

Wellness Way focuses on Adair's healthy future

Columbia Mayor Pam Hoots and T.J. Healthcare CEO Neil Thornbury were proud to announce the official renaming of "Westlake Drive" to "Wellness Way" in a special ceremony earlier this month. It is a symbolic change that reflects the community's commitment to health, well-being, and vitality.

The renaming of Westlake to Wellness Way, along with the painting of the building, is a step towards fostering a culture of wellness within the community, aligning with efforts to create a healthier environment for residents of all ages. The new name will serve as a reminder of the importance of physical, mental, and social well-being and will be a visible representation of the community's values.
