She shared it here for all who want to make them. The book the recipe for Lace Cookies came from is called 'Being Dead Is No Excuse - The Official Southern Ladies Guide to Hosting The Perfect Funeral,' by Gayden Metcalfe and Charlotte Hays. Lace cookies are delicate, delicious and beautiful. They are not difficult. It just takes a bit longer because the dough spreads, so you get only a few per baking sheet. The recipe follows. Chamber Home tour draws good crowd The first annual Chamber of Commerce Christmas Home Tour was enjoyed by almost 200 people on December 8, 2024. Adair Co. Basketball headed to King of the Bluegrass Tournament By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, the Adair County Indians will face the North Oldham Mustangs in the first round of the Chad Gardner Law "King of the Bluegrass" basketball tournament in Louisville. The Indians come off a win against Bowling Green on Saturday, December 14, and the Mustangs come off a 30 point victory over Ryle High School that same day. Saturday's game will be the opener of the tournament, with tipoff scheduled for 3:30pmCT/4:30pmET, at Fairdale High School, 1001 Fairdale Rd, Fairdale, KY. Single day tickets can be bought for $15 plus surcharges by QR code at the door, or a tournament pass can be purchased for $75. (There will be no cash sales for tickets). The King of the Bluegrass tournament welcomes 14 of the best Kentucky teams, joined by two top out of state teams, every year. This year's tournament features 8 of the top 10 preseason ranked teams in the state of Kentucky and 11 ranked teams in total. (The Mustangs however are not ranked.) Basketball: Lady Indians head to Hart Co. By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the Lady Indians return to the court as they take on the Hart County Lady Raiders. Tipoff for the JV game is scheduled for 5:30pmCT at Memorial Elementary School, 1400 N. Jackson Hwy, Hardyville, KY, with Varsity to follow at 7pmCT. The Lady Indians come off a 24 point win over Butler County, while the Lady Raiders come off a 53-48 overtime loss to LaRue County, which dropped Hart County to 2-3 on the season, the lone mutual opponent of the two teams is Campbellsville, Adair having lost by 9 compared to Hart's 22 point loss. The Lady Indians will look to slow down sophomore Nevaeh Haskins who posted a double-double 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Lady Raiders in their last game. LWC Assistant Dean Abe Cross Earns PhD Lindsey Wilson College Assistant Dean of Students Abe Cross Stays Focused on Students on His Way to Earning a Doctorate Since joining the Lindsey Wilson College family more than 15 years ago, Abe Cross has embraced change and opportunity as he has helped shape students' lives. The Michigan native came to Lindsey Wilson in 2009 as an intern in the college's award-winning sports information department. Now he is a newly minted doctor of education who serves as assistant dean of students in Lindsey Wilson's expansive Office of Student Services. Cross received his doctorate of education in educational leadership from Western Kentucky University on December 6, 2024. The next day, he was back on campus to celebrate the 843 graduates who made up Lindsey Wilson's largest winter commencement. "I've tried to make sure that everything I've done at Lindsey Wilson has been focused on helping students and the college grow because Lindsey Wilson has been so good to me," said Cross. "Lindsey Wilson has given me so many opportunities to grow professionally and personally. I really appreciate being part of this institution." Cycling: LWC Finishes 10th at National Championships Louisville, KY - The Lindsey Wilson cycling team finished 10th at the USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships held on December 12, 2024, in Louisville. The Blue Raiders totaled 49 points all coming in the men's race to place 10th. Colorado Mesa took home the team title with 240 points while Milligan (TN) finished runner-up with 196 points. Tayton Parker finished 29th in the collegiate varsity race while Max Garwick came in 30th. In the Senior 19-22 race, Parker finished 40th while Garwick placed 41st. The Blue Raiders finished the fall season recording top 10 finishes in all three national championships. KSP: Taylor Co. man charged with attempted murder of an officer From Trooper Jonathan Houk Campbellsville, KY - Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 is investigating a Taylor County man charged with attempted murder of a police officer. On the afternoon of December 14, 2024, KSP Post 15 received a request for investigative assistance from the Taylor County Sheriff's Office (TCSO). Troopers and Detectives responded to a residence on Pops Road in Taylor County and launched an investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that Sheriff Dickie Benningfield responded to a report of gunfire near a residence on Pops Road. Upon arrival, Sheriff Benningfield was standing next to his patrol vehicles, speaking with the individual who had reported the gunfire. Sheriff Benningfield heard several gunshots coming from a nearby residence and saw that several rounds of gunfire had struck his patrol vehicle. Gladys Frances George, 83, Green County, KY Gladys Frances Pittman George, of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Val Adams Pittman and Ellen Frances Garrett Pittman, was born on Wednesday, October 29, 1941 in Bradfordsville, Kentucky and departed this life on Sunday, December 15, 2024. She was 83 years, one month, and 17 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was faithful to pray for her family and friends. She loved to do puzzles of all shapes and sizes, spending time with her family and cooking for them. She was always taking care of others and would never fail to say "Love You More" before walking out the door or hanging up the phone. She would stay up all night watching the Game Show Network, Golden Girls, Friends, and Gunsmoke, which she was watching when she passed peacefully with family by her side. She was mesmerized by Matt Dillon and all his movies. She enjoyed singing fun songs for everyone and playing the guitar. She would faithfully pray every night for hours to "Heavenly Father", as she would say, and never failed to tell others how much she loved them. Her favorite people called her Mama and Granny, and there will never be another one like her.
