Lady Indians win over Washington 56-49 By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Monday, the Adair County Lady Indians defeated Washington County on the road 56-49. A big part of the win was being able to hold the Commanders to just 22 rebounds as they had 30 and 48 in their previous two wins. Also, Adair was able to keep Washington away from the free throw line, as they attempted just 9 free throws the entirety of the game, far lower than they had in previous games. Agriculture Business Summit is Dec 17 From Nick Roy Adair County Extension Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources Local agriculture leaders, business owners, and others are encouraged to join us at 9:30amCT on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, for the 2024 Adair County Agriculture Business Summit. This program will be held at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY. The program will review the current agriculture trends and data for Adair County in addition to an economic agriculture outlook for 2025. Guest speakers will include UK Ag Economist Dr. Kenny Burdine and local USDA staff. The program is free, and a complimentary lunch will be provided. Christmas Toys for Fair Board Program On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, members of VFW Post 6097 Columbia picked up 290+ toys from the Dollar Tree store here in Columbia. They have a program that they collect toys for veterans to distribute. This year five members of Post 6097 picked these toys up and then delivered them to the Adair County Fair Board for them to use in their program for needy children. Many thanks to Brooke, the manager of the local Dollar Tree and the five members of the post that were present. They were:

Hollis Murphy, 92, Casey County, KY Hollis Murphy age 92, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Monday December 9th, 2024, at his residence. Christmas parade in Campbellsville biggest ever By Larry Smith, 99.9 The Big Dawg The Campbellsville Christmas parade Saturday, December 7, 2024 has officially been declared our biggest Christmas parade in recent memory. The Christmas Spirit was in the air and area schools, businesses and industry played a big role in the celebration. The event brought thousands out for a night of fun on Main Street, vendors lined court street and everyone enjoyed delicious food and a free Coca Cola. Donnie Ray Powell, 72, Russell County, KY Donnie Ray Powell, 72, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, at home and surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 28 th 1952 to parents Bennie and Nadine (Ballenger) Powell, who preceded him in death. He retired from Lake Cumberland State Park where he worked for many years as a licensed Sewer Treatment Plant Operator. Before that many knew him when he owned and operated the Country Store at the Hwy 55 & Hale's Hwy intersection.
