Market will begin having some holiday items The Saturday Farmers Market in Columbia still had some vegetables plus it is getting a start to Christmas items, according to co-Director Donna Jones. She said, "I don't know where the time has gone, but after today's market, there are only seven weeks to go in the 2024 season." She also said that bakers who have booths at the market will be taking orders for holiday items. Letter: Quick response by city police on accident Vicky Pike writes: What if there were no police to respond? Saturday afternoon there was a pretty bad accident near the entrance of Walmart on Burkesville Road. I heard tires squealing. As I looked up two vehicles hit and were spinning under the stoplight. I grabbed my phone and dialed 911. After a few rings someone answers with, "what's your emergency?" I said, "two vehicles have hit at high speed in front of Walmart." They asked was anyone hurt but I had to tell them I'm not sure, I'm in my front yard. Immediately people began jumping from their vehicles and running toward the cars. One door was pretty well smashed in but several got hold and were able to pry the door open to check on the driver. Now this is why Im writing about this -- What if there were hadn't been police to respond? Wanda Weatherford, 86, Campbellsville, KY Wanda Faye Bertram Weatherford, 86, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Earl Bertram and Mildred Smith Bertram was born August 8th, 1938 in Campbellsville, Kentucky, and departed this life on Thursday, August 29th, 2024 surrounded by her family. She united in marriage to Mr. Lewis "Bird" Weatherford on July 28th, 1954. They were married for sixty-six years before he preceded her in death on February 10th, 2021. She loved her family dearly. She loved her dog, Punkin. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Elkhorn Methodist Church. ACHS Indians over Caverna 36-0 Friday night, the Adair County Indians football team trounced the Colonels of Caverna 36-0 in the Kentucky Cooperage Bowl hosted at Marion County High School. The Indians likely would have put up more points, but lightning in the area resulted in the game being called at half on mutual agreement of both teams.
