Rinse and Return Program for pesticide containers is Aug 29

From Nick Roy
Adair County Extension Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources

The 2024 Rinse and Return pesticide recycling program will be held from 1pmCT until 2:30pmCT on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY.

Farmers, gardeners, and homeowners are encouraged to dispose of their empty pesticide containers during this time. Empty pesticide containers should be triple rinsed, booklets and lids removed, and punctured.

Due to the materials previously held by these pesticide containers they cannot be recycled with your ordinary household plastics. This program allows for the proper recycling of these pesticide containers. This reduces the amount of material entering the landfill or being disposed of by other means. Some of the end products include drainage pipe, highway sign posts, underground utility conduit, and wire/cable spool flanges.

Soccer: LWC settles for a draw in season opener

The No.18 ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team opened its 2024 season with a 1-1 draw against Southeastern (FL) on Thursday in the Ray Wells Classic at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

The Blue Raiders (0-0-1) scored the opener in the first stages of the second half, as Sebastian Tregarthen converted a penalty kick. The team would fail to find the winner in the remaining minutes.

The Blue Raiders are back in action at 7pmCT on Saturday, August 24, 2024, when they face Spring Arbor for the remaining game of the Ray Wells Classic at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY.
