Letter: Missing Signage

Joyce Coomer writes:
Interesting how many comments missing or damaged road signs can create, but the only mentions of illicit drugs and behavior in the county are in police reports. Seems to me those two items are more important to be worrying about . . . Just me, I guess.

Letter: Downed signs

Mike Bell writes:
Come on now people, isn't this big truck/yield sign issue getting a bit stale ? I know for a fact that truckers are not the only ones to take out those signs. Cars and also the occasional young showoff trying to impress friends have taken out their fair share.

Yes, sometimes the trucks do cause problems, but those drivers are in same hurry as everybody else. And yes!, they should use the by-pass, however just like the rest of us, they search for the shortest most direct route between point A and point B and, more often than not, on to point C.

However, I was on the square at 2:30 this morning crossing Burkesville and stopped my wheelchair because it stuck me funny that the sign was in near perfect alinement with the yellow line down Burkesville St. I had to smile at the thought that there was going to be some "panties in a wad" today. I wasn't disappointed.

Letter: Signage Problem

James Roberts writes:
Apparently it's not of great concern for the Mayor and City Council to take care of or see that it's done in a way that will take care of the problem. More important issues such as a street light out or painting something I guess! That's what they were elected to do. And also while you're at it pass a local ordinance to keep the large trucks off the square that's causing the problem to begin with. Do your job!

By Macy Welsh

As Lindsey Wilson College students return for their 24-25 school year in Columbia, we share the Holloway Health and Wellness Center on the campus which has become a place for students, faculty, staff - and the entire community.

In an interview earlier this year with Tori Starks, Director of the Holloway Health and Wellness Center (HWC), she said it's a "Great gathering place, not only for students, but the community."

With programs such as pilates, yoga, racquetball, and three full sized basketball courts to play volleyball, pickleball, and badminton with your friends and family, the Wellness center has so much to offer.

Adair defeats Barren County 20-12

By Trey Stephens
Columbia Magazine Staff Writer

On Friday night, Adair County defeated Barren County 20-12 in their final preseason scrimmage of the year. This was a good outcome for the Indians as they look forward to matching up with Russell County next Friday.

The Lakers were also in action this past Friday as they picked up a scrimmage win over Garrard County. The same team that the Indians defeated last week.

The victory over the Trojans of Barren County gives the Indians even more momentum heading into the season, momentum that will hopefully help the Indians build a successful season.
