Classes at Columbia Christian Academy to begin Sept 4 Classes for 3 and 4 year olds at Columbia Christian Academy are set to begin on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:45amCT to 11:45amCT. Breaks, holidays, and snow days will follow Adair County Public Schools. John Davis, Senior Minister at Columbia Christian Church, says that there are still spots available for children to attend the Academy this fall. He says, "Give your child a Christ-centered learning environment to prepare them to succeed in later stages of education." One of the most striking memories from that class was the professor's assertion that philosophers have not disappeared; rather, they became the lyricists of popular music. Reba Smith, 90, Jamestown, KY (1934-2024) Reba F. Smith, of Jamestown, passed from this life on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at 90 years of age. Ms. Reba was "everybody's Granny" and was a devout caregiver to everyone she loved. She was "everybody's Sweetheart" as well; always having a smile on her face and always cutting up. She enjoyed playing Rook and Uno, working puzzles and did her share of "messing and gomming around". Our State Fair begins August 15 in Louisville The Kentucky State Fair begins tomorrow, August 15th and runs through August 25, 2024. Adair County Tourism Director Paige Nickel has lined up volunteers for the local booth each day and photos are promised that will share some of the fun. KSP: Fatal collision on KY 76 in Adair Co. From Trooper Jonathan Houk On Friday, August 9, 2024, at approximately 3:56 P.M. CST, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 Troopers responded to a two-vehicle injury collision on KY 76 (Millerfield Road) in Adair County. The preliminary investigation revealed that Ralph Grider, age 78 of Columbia, was in the roadway traveling east on KY 76 on a Craftsman lawn tractor. Larry Goodin, age 71 of Columbia, was also traveling east on KY 76 and collided with the rear of Mr. Grider's vehicle in the eastbound lane of the roadway. Mr. Grider was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Adair County Coroner. Mr. Goodin refused medical treatment from EMS at the scene. KSP Post 15 Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Adair County Fire and EMS, and Adair County Coroner's Office.
