Adair Co. Hospital District to meet Aug 15 From Neal M. Gold, Chairman Adair County Hospital District Due to cancellation of the regular scheduled July 2024 meeting of the Adair County Hospital District as a result of the power outage, the District will hold a special called meeting at 6:30pmCT on Thursday, August 15, 2024, to approve the 2024 tax rate. Indians win over Garrard County football By Trey Stephens Columbia Magazine Staff Writer The first half was marked by slow offensive production for both the Indians and the Golden Lions. Adair lead 12-7 in the half, as they managed to punch in two scores while limiting Garrard County to just one touchdown. Adair County did fail on both of their point after attempts, one being a missed extra point, the other a failed two point try. Those two failures limited the amount of momentum that the Indians were able to pick up throughout the first half. The Indians continued to hold Garrard County defensively through the second half, add that with another touchdown and a 19-7 Indians win was the result. Ralph Grider, 78, Adair County, KY (1946-2024) Ralph Grider, of the Millerfield Community, of Adair County, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024. He was 78 years, 1 month, and 28 days of age. Born in Adair County, on June 13, 1946, he was the son of the late Joe and Alta Etta Stargel Grider. Ralph was a farmer and a proud US Army veteran. He was an avid hunter and thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors. He loved to farm and graciously mowed the Millerfield Cemetery for over 20 years. In his pastime, he enjoyed going to church, and spending time with his family and friends. You would often find him watching his westerns, reading or doing his word search puzzles, as well as watching U of L college basketball games. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Over 7,000 enjoyed the 2024 Adair County Fair The Fair Board meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday at 6pmCT at the fairgrounds, 256 Industrial Park Road, Columbia. By Amanda Davis Page Jamie Hadley, Chairperson for the 2024 Adair County Fair, estimates that we had approximately 7,205 people that came in and enjoyed the rides or events. Even with rain every day, many still came out and took in the first carnival at the Adair County Fair since 2016. We had 125 pageant entries during the fair.
