KSP harness horsepower in hopes of winning cruiser contest From Captain Paul Blanton Frankfort, KY - KSP has entered the American Association of State Troopers (AAST) "2024 Best Looking Cruiser Contest" and is competing against state law enforcement agencies from across the country. The winning photo will be on the cover of the association's 2024 wall calendar. Gov. Andy Beshear and the Kentucky State Police (KSP) encourage Kentuckians to vote for its 2024 Ford Mustang GT as the nation's best-looking cruiser as a thank you to the agency's service. This year's entry celebrates the Commonwealth's nationally recognized horse industry. "Our state police are the best in the nation and one way we can show our support for them is by casting our vote in the best-looking cruiser contest," Gov. Beshear said. "KSP won the contest in 2021 and 2022, and it's time to take back the title. I will be casting my vote and encourage Kentuckians to join me." Boat collisions on Lake Cumberland result in rescues By Mike Scales, WHVE radio Several local emergency agencies responded to boating accident on Lake Cumberland over the Weekend. Just before 9pmCT on Saturday, July 13, 2024 Russell County Search and Rescue, along with multiple other agencies, responded to a two-boat collision on Lake Cumberland between the areas of Low Gap and Marina Rowena. The collision caused three individuals to enter the water. Fortunately, all three were wearing life jackets, which undoubtedly saved their lives. One individual sustained injuries requiring extraction from the water. Four rescue divers facilitated the patient onto a spine board. Two patients were transported by boat to Halcomb's Landing, where a helicopter was waiting.
