Public Square traffic was subject of July meeting Representatives from District 8 Highway Department listened to questions and ideas to improve the flow and speed of traffic coming onto and going around the Public Square at a meeting on July 6, 2023 at City Hall in Columbia. A good sized group of individuals who are affected by traffic challenges downtown on a daily basis attended to ask for assistance in problem solving. Mallory Frye, Planning Engineer; Amanda Parmley, Traffic Engineer; and James Jones, KYDC District 8 Transportation Cabinet Office; took questions and ideas from the public on July 6, 2023 in the meeting at City Hall. Public Information Officer Amber Hale was also with them. It is suggested that most people new to Columbia or just passing through just don't know about the bypass - there is no signage indicating truck routes on either the north 55 nor south 61 connections. GPS is not dependable, often not up to date.
