Robert Sprouls, 87, Cumberland County, KY (1936-2023) Robert Newby Sprouls, age 87 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at his home. He was born on May 31, 1936 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Sandford and Christine Bowe Sprouls. He was a lifelong farmer and store owner/operator of Sprouls Grocery in the Bakerton community of Cumberland County. He also had a passion for going to stockyards to buy and sell cattle in which he was extremely successful at. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. Synergy hosts Community Proud Art Walkthrough The public was treated to a Community Proud Art Walkthrough at the large Synergy Food Group building recently in Columbia. A crowd of around a hundred attended and viewed local arts and crafts displayed. General Manager Craig Dean said, "We will be doing this again based on the interest of this first one. Louisville Orchestra Quintet coming to Columbia on July 12 From Doug Beard The Louisville Orchestra Brass Quintet Ensemble will perform in Columbia at 1pmCT on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in the Columbia United Methodist Church Sanctuary, 202 Burkesville St, Columbia, KY. The public is cordially invited to attend this performance, which is a part of the orchestra's 2023 "In Harmony" tour of the Commonwealth. All ages are welcome, and no RSVP is needed. Adair Co. Grand Jury returns indictments on June 29 On Thursday, June 29, 2023, the Adair County Circuit Court Grand Jury met and handed down indictments against 4 individuals from Columbia and Glasgow, KY. Charges included flight, possession, resisting arrest, DUI, speeding, theft, assault, and receipt of stolen property. NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.
