Reminder to use Senior Vouchers at Farmers Market By Donna Jones As the Distribution Agent for the Senior Vouchers for Adair County I am urging everyone that has received the vouchers to go shop at the Farmers Market on the Square, we are nearing the end of August and time will run out for the funds to be used, if the funds are not used it goes against the county so less funds are given out next year to Adair County. When I got home from my women's lunch, Guy was in the recliner. "I've been having chest pains for two hours." He had been cutting up a limb left from a storm when the pains began. He came inside, rested, and went back. The pain continued. "When I couldn't lift the limb to the back of the truck, I knew I was in trouble." Put on your shoes; we were going to ER." We debated whether to call an ambulance, but he wanted to go to Bowling Green where his doctors are, which we did. The ER was packed. Some were obviously sick and others were laughing, sharing phone pictures, and eating. Family gathering. I was not in the mood! When he wasn't taken "back" immediately, I approached the registration desk in a panic. July 2022 Kentucky Unemployment Report From Mike Clark/Gabe Tomlin Frankfort, KY - Kentucky's seasonally adjusted preliminary July 2022 unemployment rate was 3.7%, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics (KYSTATS), an agency within the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet (KELC). The preliminary July 2022 jobless rate was unchanged from June 2022 but was down 1.1 percentage points from the 4.8% recorded for the state one year ago. The U.S. seasonally adjusted jobless rate for July 2022 was 3.5%, which was down from the 3.6% recorded in June 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. CPD: Meth arrest on N. Reed Street By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO Columbia Police Department On Wednesday evening, August 17, 2022, officers arrived at Columbia Christian Church's park pavilion located off North Reed Street to check a suspicious vehicle. Contact was made with parties within the vehicle and K9 Unit was dispatched to the scene. K9 Unit Matt alerted to officers on scene and a search of property within the vehicle yielded findings of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
