LWC in 8th of Learfield Directors Cup through winter season By Christopher Coombs Lindsey Wilson athletics comes in at 8th place in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings following the completion of winter competitions and scoring, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) officials announced on Thursday. Lindsey Wilson has 496.50 points after scoring 249.50 points during the winter season. The Blue Raiders picked up 25 points from women's basketball, with 72 points from both men and women's swimming, 14.5 from women's indoor track and field and added 66 points from wrestling. Nick Hale Campbellsville, KY - The Kentucky State Police is investigation a two vehicle fatal collision that occurred in Taylor County on Wednesday March 30, 2022 at approximately 5:17pmET, on the north bypass in Campbellsville, KY. Preliminary investigations indicate that Casey Hines, age 31 of Campbellsville, KY was operating a 2004 Chevy SUV east bound when he crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and struck a west bound 2016 Toyota SUV. The Toyota was operated by David Haibach, age 74 of Campbellsville, KY. State releases county unemployment data for February 2022 By Mike Clark/Gabe Tomlin Frankfort, KY - Unemployment rates rose in six counties, fell in 112 counties, and stayed the same in two counties between February 2021 and February 2022, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics (KYSTATS), an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. Locally, unemployment fell year-to-year and month-to-month in Adair and all surrounding counties.
Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the commonwealth at 2.7%. It was followed by Fayette, Oldham, Scott and Todd counties, 3% each; and Boone, Jessamine, Logan, Shelby and Simpson counties, 3.2% each. Andy Beshear signed into law 13 pieces of legislation recently passed by the General Assembly. "I am proud to sign legislation that supports so many different people, from business owners and artists to students who are graduating early or Kentuckians suffering from mental illness who need a safe home," Gov. Beshear said. "We are also enhancing consumer protections and making it easier for some of our heroes - our firefighters and veterans - to get the funding, training or treatment that they need and deserve." State budget funds big projects in Cumberland, Green, Taylor The current version of HB1, the House and Senate version of the Executive Branch budget for the next two years, was delivered to Governor Beshear on March 30, 2022, and it contains funding for a number of area projects. Adair County doesn't get a specific mention in HB1, but Cumberland, Green, Taylor, and Russell Counties will each receive funding for projects in the new budget. The House approved the executive branch budget by a 93-3 vote while the Senate approved the budget unanimously in a 35-0 vote. According to HB1, Taylor County and Campbellsville schools would receive almost $20 million in funding for school buildings, Cumberland County would receive $13 million for Cumberland County Elementary School, Russell County is in line for $1.5 million for the Russell County Regional Agribusiness Training Facility, and Green County would receive funding for nearly $9 million between school construction funds and community development projects.
