Carol Perkins: Guy is ready to get back on the road Previous Column: Day Trips By Carol Perkins I rinse my pots and pans before hand washing them and all the other items, even those that go in the dishwasher. Nothing worse than loose food floating on top of dishwater. After baking a couple of cakes, I was rinsing my items, laying them on the counter before filling the sink to wash them. Guy wandered in to see what I was doing and picked up a measuring cup. "I think this might need a little more washing." I turned to him. "That hasn't been washed yet. By the way, get out of my kitchen!" I joked. He put down the measuring cup and threw up his hands! The last thing a cook wants is a critic in the kitchen. We cooks have our ways of doing things. Fiscal Court votes to close Recycling Center By Bridget Compton The Adair County Recycling Center will be closed effective immediately, as voted on by the Adair County Fiscal Court at last night's meeting. It saddens me the County has to do this since we have so many within the county that utilize these services but after hearing the public's comments and suggestions it was decided in lieu of adding an additional tax burden on the community to make cuts within and the Recycling Center has always been a service to make Adair County better not a profit making or self-sustaining operation. I want to personally thank all of the dedicated citizens who have kept tons of garbage out of our dumps by recycling and strive to make Adair County a clean and beautiful place to live. 2021-02-10 09:01:57 | Comments | Printable version
