LCDHD: Vaccination slots still open

LCDHD COVID-19 Public Information Brief 2/8/2021

By Amy Tomlinson
Lake Cumberland District Health Department

Over the next 3 weeks, we will receive 4,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to spread across our district's 10 counties. While we scheduled approximately 3,113 of those 4,000 appointments today, we still have appointment slots open in most counties and will continue making appointments on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, starting at 8amCT/9amET. These are for people in Phase 1a or 1b including those 70 and older.

Do not call early. Do not leave your information on our answering machine. We are not keeping waiting lists. We plan to have 20 phone lines open and 10 to 15 operators. However, we know the demand will be greater than the supply. We had over 300,000 attempted dial-ins today for our 4,000 slots. We apologize in advance for not being able to accommodate everyone.

When our scheduling call center goes live on Tuesday morning, these are the numbers to dial:
  • Adair: 270-384-2286
  • Casey: 606-787-6911
  • Cumberland: 270-864-2206
  • (All appointments are taken) Green: 270-932-4341
  • Russell: 270-343-2181
  • (All appointments are taken) Taylor: 270-465-4191

Turner And Hall have career nights against Bethel

By Joel Snyder

McKenzie, TN - Back on November 21, Bethel came to Columbia and spoiled the Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team's perfect tenure in overtime. Tonight, the Blue Raiders overcame a 19-point deficit en route to a riveting 78-76 Mid-South Conference victory.

Trailing 74-61 with 3:39 to play in regulation, a pair of free throws by Reagan Turner sparked what would become the deciding run. Inch-by-inch, the Blue Raiders crawled within striking distance of the Wildcats' lead. Over a one minute and 17-second stretch, Turner and Sydnie Hall combined to connect on three 3-pointers in as many possessions to tie the game at 76-76.

After a Bethel timeout, the Wildcats set up shop with 30 seconds separating the two sides from another overtime, but an offensive turnover just seven seconds later gave the ball back to the Blue Raiders with a chance to go for the win.

With the clock winding down, Turner charged into the paint and drew a foul, sending her back to the free-throw line where she would knock down both attempts to seal an incredible comeback win for Lindsey Wilson.

As COVID cases decline, state focuses on equitable vaccination

By Crystal Staley/Sebastian Kitchen

Frankfort, KY - On Monday, as new cases continue to decline, Gov. Beshear said the state is working to address equitable vaccine access.

The Governor updated Kentuckians on the demographics of those vaccinated.

"One thing to note when you look at the vaccine demographic data: we have more individuals in long-term care under 70 than I had ever imagined," said Gov. Beshear. "With that said, we need to continue to prioritize those 70 and older.

"Right now, more women than men have been vaccinated, but we suspect that reflects the health care and education sectors that have been in earlier phases. I think this will even out more when we get to Phase 1C.
