It is kinda cool to have a road named after someone with the same name. I am not related to Mr. Grant and it's just a coincidence. Thanks --NormanNorman, thanks for writing. Plan for a safe Superbowl By Erin G. Eggen Frankfort, KY - Football fans across the country are gearing up for America's most-watched sporting event, Super Bowl LV, on Sunday, Feb. 7. While celebrations will look different this year due to COVID-19, the dangers of drunken driving remain the same. Gov. Andy Beshear encourages Kentuckians to play for TEAM Kentucky by celebrating responsibly at home as this year's Super Bowl comes during a health pandemic. "As public health commissioner Dr. Steven Stack said yesterday, we want everyone to have a good time watching and celebrating the Super Bowl but we can't afford to let our guards down," said Gov. Andy Beshear. "This year, there's two good reasons to watch the big game at home. One is to combat the spread of COVID-19 to protect our fellow Kentuckians. The second is to avoid putting yourself and others on the road at risk if you plan to drink alcohol." The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's (KYTC) Office of Highway Safety is teaming with the National Highway Traffic Safety for a "Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk" reminder urging football fans to avoid a major fumble by not driving impaired. Outdoor basketball and Pickleball courts available By ACJE Gale Cowan The Adair County Fiscal Court is pleased to announce the addition of two full sized outdoor basketball courts and a Pickleball court to the Jim Blair Recreation Center and Park. We do not have a net up yet for the Pickleball court but you are welcome to bring your portable net until we get one installed. This is something I have been eager to get done since I became Judge Executive. We want everyone to be able to use our park and are always looking for ideas or ways to improve the park. Within the last two years we have improved the softball field (which is still ongoing), made improvements to the track, added lighting to the track, put a new floor in the gym (thanks goes to the City of Columbia for paying for half of this expense), and now the addition of two basketball courts and a Pickleball court. JAG Fabrication and Central Kentucky Lawn Care did the work on the courts. Article continues... click title or click here to read whole article. 2021-02-04 10:27:04 | Comments | Printable version

Comer calls for transparency on Corps marina fees Washington, DC - House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-KY) this week wrote the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding the lack of transparency and uniformity of fees charged to marina owners and businesses. Ranking Member Comer is requesting documents from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers regarding their fees to ensure marina businesses are not unfairly charged and burdened by an unruly and inconsistent process. "Every small business in America is hurting because of this pandemic, and to make matters worse, the Army Corps of Engineers is overcharging marina businesses and getting away with it. In Kentucky, tourism is crucial to our state economy, especially lake related tourism. To have these small businesses suffer due to hazy bureaucratic process is not only unfair, it could potentially destroy a business, kill jobs, and severely damage an industry. We must have transparency to rein in this process and ensure our businesses aren't being damaged by government overreach," said Ranking Member Comer.
