Ranel Curry, 78, Adair County, KY (1942-2020) Ranel Curry moved from this life to his home in Heaven on Friday, December 25, 2020. He was born to the late Ester and Bessie Goodin Curry on May 26, 1942 and lived 78 years, 6 months and 29 days. On August 21, 1961 Ranel married his one and only love, Donna Kathleen Shepherd Curry. She remained lovingly by his side for 59 years and survives him with their four children. Ranel spent his life in service to God, his family and anyone who needed his help, prayer or just a smile. He was a deacon at Millerfield Brethren in Christ Church for 47 years and attended faithfully. He was devoted to living a life that was pleasing to Jesus and that devotion was clear to everyone who met him. He loved to farm and garden after his retirement as a School Bus Driver for 20 years. His humble manner kept him from seeing the true and lasting impact he had on all those who met him. This world has lost his wonderful bright smile and is darker and colder without him, but Heaven has gained a true champion. CPD: Columbia man arrested for sexual assualt By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO Columbia Police Department The Columbia Police Department arrested a Columbia man earlier this week for sexual assault, after beginning an investigation December 22. The man is facing multiple felonies, including unlawful transaction with a minor 1st degree; illegal sexual act, rape 3rd degree, sodomy 3rd degree, possession of matter portraying juvenile in a sexual act, and use of a minor under 16 in a sexual performance. Emergency Management Adair County E-911 has been operational and all emergency phone lines continue to work as normal, but many of our local counties are experiencing issues with their emergency lines and AT&T communications. We encourage every person to become familiar with their county's emergency number or numbers. For Adair County 911, the number is 270-384-6464. Please refer to your own county emergency dispatch or 911 website, social media or phone book and save the number if you cannot remember it. For most, the 270-384-6464 number is familiar as it was the pre 911 phone number in Adair County. The incident that occurred in Nashville is much larger than the physical damage on 2nd Street and has created many issues in many states. Specifically data exchanged via the system including voice over internet protocol, cellular systems and other forms of digital communication have been impacted. AT&T stated in their PM briefing that "Power is essential to restoring wireless and wireline communications and we are working with law enforcement to get access to our equipment and make needed repairs.
