Remebering George Rice Doug McCammish writes: George Rice was one of the finest Christian men I've ever known. When you talked to George, you always seemed to walk away uplifted. He was an encourager (Romans 12), a prayer warrior, and a model for the rest of us in how he treated others. At past Saturday morning prayer times, George was always among the first to arrive (the Adair County version of "on time") and always sat next to Elvin Giles. I can hear his greeting now. Dello Jessee, 77, Metcalfe County, KY (1943-2020) Dello Ray Jessee, 77, of Edmonton passed away Monday, December 21, 2020. He was born May 8, 1943 the son of the late Lonzo and Clara Gibson Jessee. He was a graduate of Metcalfe County High School and member of the Edmonton Baptist Church. He retired as Executive Vice President of Edmonton State Bank after 47 years of service. Dello was Past Master of the Edmonton Masonic Lodge No. 931 and Worthy Patron of the Edmonton Order of the Eastern Star No. 470. On September 29, 1962 Dello married his soulmate of 58 years, Linda Vincent Jessee who survives. KSP assist with 114 arrests of child internet predators By Sergeant Billy Gregory Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Electronic Crime Branch is a team of sixteen detectives and nine civilians. They have worked tirelessly this year, in conjunction with the Kentucky ICAC Task Force, to respond to over 3,000 cybercrime tips leading to 707 completed investigations resulting in 114 arrests, which is an overall increase from 2019. While the investigative unit handles a variety of cybercrimes, they partner with the Kentucky Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force to protect the most vulnerable victims, Kentucky's youth. The ICAC Task Force, which includes several law enforcement agencies in the commonwealth, has received 3,137 cybercrime tips so far this year. Carol Perkins: Christmas 2020 Previous Column: A Santa Story By Carol Perkins Christmas 2020 found Ms. Claus in a tizzy. She had a surprise for Santa that he would not like, but it had to be done. A knock on the door signaled it was time. The Santa Village doctor stood ready as he eased toward Santa, knowing the big man's reaction would be that of a five-year-old. "You are one lucky man," he said as he whipped a syringe. "You get the first COVID-19 vaccine in our village just in time." Santa backed away, but Ms. Claus guided him forward. "You can't visit all those homes without this shot!" He surrendered. "You could have warned me," he pouted. They knew the village would not survive the virus. Although they had been isolated since last year, Santa could bring it back, give it to the elves, and wreak havoc on Christmases to come. His wife continued as he rubbed his arm. "Remember all the regulations," she said as she helped him into his suit. "Keep that mask on. You don't know who's sick and who isn't. Don't even pull it down to eat the cookies!" she ordered. LCDHD COVID-19 Public Information Brief 12/23/2020 By Amy Tomlinson Lake Cumberland District Health Department Today the local health departments began the COVID-19 offensive. After almost a year of playing defense, we are now seeing COVID-19 vaccination efforts commence in our district. Nursing homes are starting to be vaccinated, along with hospital, and other medical and medial related staff. The supply of COVID-19 vaccine is currently small, but getting these groups vaccinated will preserve life, and keep the medical infrastructures intact. Vaccination efforts will expand as dose availablity increases. Please watch our Daily Brief and social media for the latest developments.
