Letter: Should revivals be postponed? Samantha Montgomery writes: Considering that Adair county is in the red zone and that the recent uptick in cases is reportedly from a church revival, maybe now isn't the best time to have another one. Hopefully, if they go through with this everyone follows proper guidelines, but even then it's risky. Revivals aren't a necessity and it seems irresponsible to have one right now. 2020-10-21 12:52:27 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback

Governor Ends Statewide Moratorium on Utility Disconnections Kentucky Rural Water Association The Kentucky Public Service Commission is ending its moratorium on disconnections for nonpayment for the utilities it regulates on Oct. 20. To ensure there are protections when that begins, the Governor signed an executive order on October 19 that ends the statewide moratorium on disconnections for nonpayment on Nov. 6, but takes additional steps to help Kentuckians. The executive order designates $15 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds for the Healthy at Home Utility Relief Fund, which will provide relief for Kentuckians at risk of natural gas, water, wastewater, or electric service disconnection. The order will also require utilities to create a payment plan for residential customers that runs no less than six months. It will continue to waive late fees on utility bills for residential customers through Dec. 31, 2020. Kentuckians can find additional assistance paying for utilities through the funds and organizations listed here: Utility Assistance (PDF). 2020-10-21 12:46:35 | Comments | Printable version

The picture stirs memories of Fairplay friends Adair Countian Creed Lacy is remembered in a quilt being created by his widow Willa Bledsoe Lacy that turns up in today's photo by photographer Robert Ellis. Whatever busy day is ahead, be sure to take time for Robert's feature from the Fairplay community, "A quilt, a tractor and Jasper Gadberry Country Store." I think you'll be glad, as I am, that he didn't make it to Tompkinsville that day. - Linda Waggener More good memories of Fairplay revisited in Columbia Magazine archives from Jamie Isabelle. 2020-10-21 06:29:24 | Comments | Printable version Birthdays and Anniversaries for October 21 Happy Anniversary, David and Melissa Rooks (1989) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Blake Perkins (1991) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Brandi Popplewell (1990) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Carli Burton (1991) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Donna Graves | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Dorlis Powell (1951) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Jacob Herbert | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Judy Turner Roy | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Kay Haupt (1940) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Kenneth Perkins | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Megan Katherine Mercer | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Nathan Akin (1986) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Rose Garvey | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Roy Ayala | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Tyler Scott Johnson (2010) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Karen Denise Benningfield, Campbellsville, KY (1954-2019) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Eliza P.
