By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO
Columbia Police Department

Saturday morning at approximately 7:34amCT, officers Anthony Darnell and Trevor Foster of the Columbia Police Department responded to the intersection of the Adair Veterans Memorial Bypass and Greensburg Road to an accident with injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates that 77 year old George A. Blevens, Sr. of Shepherdsville, KY was operating a 2013 Buick when he pulled from Greensburg Road into the path of a 2017 Kenworth tractor trailer operated by Edward L. Johnson, III of Madison, TN.

Johnson was not injured in the collision. Blevens was transported by Adair EMS to T.J. Health Columbia and later transferred to University of Kentucky Hospital via air ambulance, where he ultimately passed away as a result of his injuries.

Officer Anthony Darnell is continuing the investigation. He was assisted on scene by Columbia Police Officers Trevor Foster and Jordan Dean, along with Deputy Chandler Staten of The Adair Couty Sheriff's Department and members of the Adair County Fire Department and Adair County EMS.

We are the first generation of humans to know what our universe was like at the very beginning. Less than 100 years ago people thought that our galaxy was all there was and that it had never, ever changed. We have since come to realize, whether we like it or not, that our galaxy is just one of at least hundreds of billions of galaxies in a universe that has been changing constantly since it began almost 14 billion years ago.

The show is suitable for all ages, and runs for 60 minutes, with time for questions at the end. The show will begin on time, and no late entrance will be permitted.
