Hello, God!

By Linda Waggener

This inspirational early morning photo by Kallie Stotts just speaks of the wonders of the universe.

It reminds me of the time we did a "Question on the Street" and one little child - in answer to the question "How do you picture God?" - said, "Well, you just point your camera up and say, 'Say cheese, God.'" --LW

Heather Grant writes:
This is actually my dog. We live over on Rocky Hill Road. We let him out this morning and he took off. I did actually see the two dogs you're talking about at the middle school shortly after I picked him up and took him home though. --Heather

Theresa Ingermann writes:
This little thing belongs to someone that lives off of Walker St. on the circle drive. He loves to visit everyone in the neighborhood, he does well around traffic, and is usually with his little friend (little red dog).

General Fund and Road Fund receipts for July 2019

General Fund receipts increase 1.9 percent. Sales tax and lottery receipts showed big increases. Road Fund receipts increase 0.4 percent

By John E. Chilton/Greg Harkenrider

Frankfort, KY - State Budget Director John Chilton announced today Kentucky's General Fund receipts for July, the first month of Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20), totaled $845.7 million, a 1.9 percent increase compared to July 2018 receipts. Increases in the sales and use tax and cigarette taxes out-paced declines in the income, natural resources and property taxes as the impacts of tax law changes continue to influence monthly receipts.

The official revenue estimate for FY20 calls for revenue to grow 0.6 percent compared to FY19 actual receipts. Based on July's receipts, General Fund revenues need to increase 0.5 percent for the remainder of the fiscal year to meet the official estimate. The FY20 official estimate consists of the December 2017 revenue estimate rendered by the Consensus Forecasting Group (CFG) adjusted for subsequently enacted legislation. The CFG met on August 9 to begin the process of revising the FY20 revenue estimate as well as preparing estimates for FY21 and FY22. The CFG will meet again in October before rendering final revenue estimates in December.
