Cordell Coomer, 85, Adair Co., KY (1934-2019)

Cordell was a member of Tarter's Chapel United Methodist Church and a retired sales clerk at Jeffries Hardware after many years of service.

Cordell Coomer of the Portland Community of Adair County, died Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the T.J. Health Columbia Emergency Room. He was 85 years old.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Herbert Janes, Bro. David Kemp & Bro. Rod Wally officiating. Burial will follow in Tarter's Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 5pmCT on Thursday, June 20, 2019.

Roy Lee 'Swede' Dyer, 63, Green County, KY (1956-2019)

Roy Lee "Swede" Dyer, of Greensburg the son of the late Harry Lee and Early Viola (Hunt) Dyer, departed this life on Sunday, June 16, 2019 in Lexington at the UK Medical Center. He was 63 years, 4 months and 28 days of age.

A graveside service for Roy Lee "Swede" Dyer will be Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Mt. Gilboa Cemetery, 3205 Mt. Gilboa Road, Campbellsville, KY with burial to follow.

Pizza bids may begin now for next school year

Fireworks at Adair Fairgrounds to be July 4th at dark

We are so pleased to announce the upcoming fireworks show that will be held at the Lindsey Wilson College/Fairgrounds starting just after dark on the Fourth of July.

This is the third year that this Pyrotechnics company has been hired to put on the show for Adair County.

Carol Perkins: Sammy and Tammy

Guy stood at the living room window looking out to the front yard.

"Come look," he said. "Tammy and Sammy are fighting." I rushed to the window and sure enough, they were going at it, slinging their heads and swishing their tails. Something was between them; was it a nut?

Tammy and Sammy are our pet squirrels. They don't know they are pets because they do not have a close relationship with us, but we watch them as they play, run up trees, jump across limbs and slide down branches.

Wilma Noe Sweeney, 65, Glasgow, KY (1954-2019)

Wilma Noe Sweeney of Glasgow passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at the T.J. Samson Hospital. She was 65 years old.

The funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Noe Sweeney will be conducted at 1pmCT on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Macedonia Cemetery. Bro. Kelvin Edwards will be officiating.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Wednesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, and after 7amCT on Thursday until time of the funeral service.

It's currently 70F at the Adair County Mesonet station. Watch out for patchy fog this morning, which should clear by 8amCT. Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly after 4pmCT. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 83F. Light south wind becoming southwest 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Showers and thunderstorms remain likely overnight, with a low around 68F and southwest wind 6 to 13 mph. The overnight chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.

There is a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday. Otherwise cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 79F. Southwest wind 13 to 16 mph.

Thursday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 62F and west wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the evening.

A little help is needed by Hungry Kids Cafe

Hungry Kids Cafe needs some help. Donation are great and every week people drop what they can in the donations box. I so appreciate it and so do the children.

We have been serving between 80-100 meals a day and it takes about $100 a week to do that.

So I am asking for a little help.
