Letter: Plainly stated

Jim writes:
The story of the plain hamburger brought to mind the tale related by the manager of the Jerry's restaurant where I worked several lifetimes ago. Seems that one morning when Don (the manager) was working the cook line, a gentleman ordered a plain omelet. At Jerry's, that consisted of three eggs and two slices of American cheese, a fact plainly (forgive the pun) stated on the breakfast menu.

So, ol' Don sent the order out, whereupon the gentlemen quickly sent it back, quite indignantly stating he positively did not want cheese on his plain omelet. Don had a huge laugh, then sent out the order again -- three eggs sans cheese, carefully folded and flapped in best omelet fashion. --Jim
