There are aspects of our history that are worth publicly celebrating; others are unpleasant but nonetheless need to be likewise remembered.

Such is the case with the nation's legacy of racial violence manifested locally in dozens of lynchings in southcentral Kentucky in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Today - FRIDAY with CM - 17 Aug 2018

Haiku by Robert Stone for August 17, 2018:
Ignoring safety,
proud face those they want to kill
and may not live to tell.
--Robert Stone, Friday, 17 August 2018.
-1000 haiku twice now, now on to more days, Day 2530

(Ad) Adair County Farmers Market - Fri 17 Aug 2018
The Adair County Farmers Market, Parking Lot, Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY, is OPEN 6am-10amCT, TODAY, (or until sold out), Friday, Aug 17, 2018 with the following:
- One of the Kings of Corn, David Burris - Portland, KY - is here with a truckload of 901 Yellow Sweet Corn. "The best we've had all year," he said. At 6:53 he's the only one here. His partner, Junior Brown, is on a Good Samaritan errand this morning, aiding his fellow man - which he does often when not out chasing fugitives on his four-wheeler in the neighborhood. "Better come on down," David Burris said. "Today and tomorrow looks like the last of the sweet corn this season." He's still giving your choice of a Baker's Dozen or Methodist Dozen - either way, 13 fat sweet ears of corn for $4.
Remember, the Adair Farmers Market is open Tuesdays and Fridays, 6am-10amCT, with parking just a few feet away from all the stalls. We look forward to seeing you in the cool of the early morning, when selection is its very best. (Sponsored)
