Hepatitis A diagnosed in employee of Columbia pizzeria

LCAHD says anyone who ate food at the restaurant may consider Hepatitis A vaccinations. All employees at the restaurant are being vaccinated and the health department says that this time, there is no risk of contracting Hepatitis A from the establishment and that no case of hepatitis A in the current Kentucky outbreak has been associated with food service establishments.

Adair County Sheriff Harrison Moss reports that on Friday, June 29, 2018, at approximately 10:57amCT, Miriam Hoots, age 51, of Columbia, KY, was arrested on charges of Public Intoxication and Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree Methamphetamines after she was observed walking on Montgomery Street while impaired. Hoots was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail, Chief Deputy Aaron Rainwater is investigating the case.

Kids eat free at the Hungry Kids Cafe, open Saturdays for breakfast and lunch at Farmer's Market on the Square, Corner Merchant & Campbellsville Streets, Columbia, KY 8am-1pmCT (our hours may be slightly different from FM2). Here's our menu for Saturday, June 30, 2018, and It is meet the candidate day at the market, too:
  • Breakfast: Breakfast Casserole. Fruit Parfait. Cinnamon Bread.
  • Lunch: Pulled Pork Sliders. Tossed Salad. Watermelon. Strawberry Swirl Dessert.
All kids eat free every Saturday. Parents are welcome to join children for a donation.

A community fireworks show will be held at the Lindsey Wilson College/Fairgrounds starting just after dark - sunset is at 8:05pmCT - on the Fourth of July, Wednesday, 4 Jul 2018. This is the second year Casey Creek Pyrotechnics has been hired to put on the show for Adair County. Per their contract, no one will be allowed in the fairgrounds for parking or viewing.

Another dog, Marvin Gentry's Sadie - comes up missing from Ella

It may just be a coincidence, it may be because of the thunder and lightning, but another dog has come up missing in the Webb's Cross Roads - Millerfield - Ella section of Adair & Russell Counties.

This time it is Marvin Gentry's little dog, Sadie, a mixed breed, tri-colored dog. Sadie was wearing a white flea collar when last seen. Contact Marvin Gentry at 270-250-0231 with any information you may have.

Don Antle, Taylor County, KY (1931-2018)

MAY 15, 1931 - JUNE 27, 2018 (AGE 87)

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Elk Horn Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a member of Battery B 623 Field Artillery Battalion. He was also a member of the Elk Horn Masonic Lodge #568 F & AM. Don was a retired employee of Campbellsville Laundry and Kroger. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed talking about fishing to his friends and family. He was the son of the late Albert Arnett Antle & Virgie Mae Pike Antle. His wife of 65 years, Nadean Barnett Antle, survives. He leaves 12 direct living descendants.

Gilbert E. (Gil) Blevins, Taylor County, KY (1943-2018)

SEPTEMBER 29, 1943 - JUNE 26, 2018 (Age 74)

He professed faith in Christ and was a life-long member of Good Hope Baptist Church. Having done flooring since he was eighteen years old and being the owner of Blevins Tile Flooring, his attention to detail was appreciated by all who used his services. He was an enthusiastic UK fan, an avid golfer and a member of the Campbellsville Country Club since 1965. He was also a devoted husband, loving father and a caring pet owner. He was a member of an outstanding Taylor County, KY, family. He was the son of Nell Colvin Blevins, who survives & the late Edwin Blevins. His wife of 26 years, Laurel Livziey Blevins, survives. He leaves 18 total direct and step living descendants. He will laid to rest in the cemetery of Good Hope Baptist Church.

A BOIL WATER ADVISORY is in effect for consumers of
Columbia Adair Utilities District for customers on 25-50 Sparksville Rd., 7917-9970 Burkesville Rd., Bird Rd., R Gowen Rd., F Burris Rd.
The advisory has been issued due to main line leak.
Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure. Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using. This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality. For more information concerning the Boil Water Advisory, contact Lennon Stone at Columbia Adair Utilities District, 270-384-2181. CAUD is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
