New speed check sign on Burkesville Street

2018-02-13 - Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
The City of Columbia Police Department is working on two solutions to the speeding traffic on Burkesville Street: One is the installation of a KYTC flashing sign, a loaner, or, two, parking police cars with lights flashing to protect construction workers. The sign above lets motorists know the speed they are traveling, and appears to be very effective. Columbia Police Chief Jason Cross said after the Tuesday meeting at City Council that the sign had arrived and was installed. He said that the Kentucky Highway Department designated the location, and would not allow its relocation to the CAUD - Stotts Construction site, where a few speeding drivers are endangering construction workers there. (Could or should the city begin to install it's own permanent, smaller speed checkers in town? Help on estimated costs would be appreciated. We found a site, but couldn'd find prices. x.walk.com - EW.

Billy Joe Fudge: Thanks for accolades; on comparison to Dr. Neat

A thank you to George Rice. A lament for a lost art: Storytelling. Reviving it would save our culture from further harm.
Comments re article 95619 George Rice - BJF must have had close relationship with Dr. Neat

By Billy Joe Fudge

I can think of no greater compliment than to be mentioned in the same conversation with the late and great "Dr. Neat." Thanks for the accolades.

They are greatly appreciated and my spirit is re-invigorated.

Storytelling is quickly becoming a lost art or at least a much under-practiced art.
