Mavis J. Ross, 84, Russell County, KY (1933-2017)

She was a homemaker and a member of the Sewellton Church of God of Prophecy. She was the daughter of the late Morris & Dollie (Bell) Collins, and the widow of Russell Ross. She leaves nine direct living descendants.

Funeral Services for Mavis Ross will be at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY, at 1pmCT, Friday June 2, 2017 with Bro. Jessie Jewell officiating. Friends may visit after 11amCT, on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jamestown Cemetery, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY.

Congressman Jamie Comer's Columbia Town Hall forum well attended

U.S. Representative James 'Jamie' Comer met the half-way mark in his goal to hold Town Hall forums in every one of his 35 counties in the First District this calendar year at his Adair County Town Hall forum, Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

The event held at the Adair County Judicial Center in the upstairs court room held a large crowd, with those in attendance from Adair and several other nearby counties.

Commencement 2017 at ACHS

"While no valedictorian or salutatorian was named this year, the top two seniors in terms of GPA, Chassidy Bryant and Cole Schmidt, were recognized.' Principal Troy Young and Senior Isaac Carter are speakers. Carter admits that this class best looking, possibly most athletic to ever come through Adair County High School.

The Adair County High School Class of 2017 officially moved on to the next phase of their lives Friday night at the school's commencement ceremony. In front of a standing-room-only crowd of parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends, the graduates were recognized for 13 years of hard work and academic achievement.

Elmer George enters not guilty plea for PVA

By Ed Waggener

Attorney Elmer George entered a pleas of not guilty for Adair County PVA Jeff Feese at the arraignment in Adair District Court, Tuesday, May 30, 2017, before Special District Judge Amy Anderson.

Judge Anderson set the date for a Preliminary Hearing in the case for 8amCT, July 25, 2017, and modified the terms of bail to include "no unlawful contact with the victim."

The defendant is facing domestic violence allegations.
