Flash flooding creates serious travel situations / album

Flash flooding has created serious travel problems in the area tonight. Not only are there overflows on roadways in the usual low lying areas, but fast moving water is flowing like mountain creek beds just below crests.

Water was over Jamestown Street in the Dip at around 7:30pmCT, not from Town Creek, but from driveway and parking lot runoff.

Fairground Street between Lindsey Wilson Street and the KY 206 Bridge over Russell Creek, had pooling, and Bull Run Road had several pooling problems which made driving tricky, with hydroplaning hazards.

Richard Neal Weddle, 61, Casey County, KY (1956-2017)

He owned and operated Liberty Tire and Muffler for nearly 20 years. He was also a farmer. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was the son of Hazel Weddle, who survives, and the late Edwin Eugene Weddle. He leaves eight direct living descendants.

The funeral service will be held at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY with Bro. Greg Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Salyers Cemetery. The family will receive friends 9:30am-12pmNoonCT/10:30am-1pmET, Wednesday, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Matt Bevin's communication office FRANKFORT, KY (Fri 26 May 2017) - In fewer than five months, companies pledged nearly $5.8 billion in new-facility investments and expansion projects in Kentucky, eclipsing the state's full-year record from 2015 of $5.1 billion, Gov. Matt Bevin announced today during a news conference at the Capitol.

CHS seniors have fun at project graduation

Campbellsville High School seniors had fun together at this year's project graduation celebration, and all took home several prizes. At project graduation, graduates played games, won prizes and ate together. The event is one of the last times the class will be together as a group.

Beckham Preston (Bee) Compton, Barren Co., KY; Adair Co. native (1925-2017)

He was born in the western Adair County community of Nell, KY. He was the son of the late James Robert Compton & Josie Gertrude Coomer Compton. He was the widower of Flossie Lee Veluzat Compton. He leaves three direct living descendants, and many close kin, including sister Martha Lacy of Breeding, KY, in Adair, Barren, and Metcalfe counties and elsewhere. He served in the Navy in WWII and was recognized by the KY House of Representatives and the Senate for his service to his country. He was a farmer and carpenter, raising his last crop at age 79. At age 82 he re- roofed the family home (which he built in the 1960's) by himself.

Compton, will be 11amCT, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, 801 N Race Street, Glasgow, KY, with interment at New Liberty Cemetery, Metcalfe County, KY. Visatation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Monday, May 29, at the funeral home. Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be providing military honors. Pall bearers will be Eddie Wagner, Marshall Wagner, Ernie Wagner, Jason Lacy, Jonathan Lacy and Bobby Druen.
