Troy Allen Kessinger, 61, Adair County, KY/Oklahoma native (1955-2017)

He was a member of Flatwoods Separate Baptist Church and a farmer. He was a native of Shawnee, OK, and a resident of Columbia, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Vestal & Bertha Hughes Kessinger. His wife, Margaret Harmon Kessinger, survives. He leaves 55 living descendants to carry on his legacy.

Terry Gene Buck, Jr., 57, Adair Co., KY/Anderson Co. KY native (1959-2017)

He attended Sparksville Baptist Church and was an auto body repair man for many years. He was a native of Madison Co., IN, and a resident of Adair County, KY at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Terry Gene & Clytia Cleon Rodgers Buck Sr. His wife, Gail Lynn Walker Buck, survives. He leaves five direct and two step living descendants.

Creed Lacy, 82, Adair County, KY (1934-2017)

He was saved at Emory Chapel United Methodist Church and attended Hadley's Community Church for several years. He was a US Army Veteran and will be accorded full military honors by Columbia Post 6097, Veterans of Foreign Wars, at committal rites. He drove a school bus for the Adair County School System for 46 years. He was the son of the late Elbert Tom & Glawdon Grider Lacy. His wife, Willa Bledsoe Lacy, survives. He leaves two direct living descendants

CPD captures, arrests man after alleged 132mph flight

Following crash, suspect attempted flight on foot, but was caught by Ofc. Drew Conn and was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail. 26 year-old Columbia man now faces numerous charges

Columbia Police arrested an Adair County man on several felonies including DUI after pursuit.

The incident occurred on Saturday night April 15, 2017 when CPD Ofc. Drew Conn while on Patrol using moving radar, observed a vehicle traveling west on the parkway, between the old Exit 49 and new Walmart exit, at 132 mph.

Indictments against 7 persons from Columbia and Elkhorn, KY. Charges include criminal mischief, assault, burglary, wanton endangerment, forgery, and theft.

Students at Adair County Primary Center took a stand against child abuse last week by wearing - and hanging - blue ribbons around campus. The display was the result of a joint effort between the Family Resource Center and the Lake Cumberland Children's Advocacy Center to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Columbia Baptist Revival and Icy Baptizing, December 1838

The following is a shortened version of an letter, written by former Kentucky Governor Preston H. Leslie, former Confederate Officer, and at the time Territorial Governor of Montana, printed in the Adair County News in February 1898. The letter, written upon the occasion of the death of Dr. W.P. Jones, former Adair Countian, and forwarded to Judge James Garnett, Sr., who allowed the publication...

"In the Fall of 1838, after I had professed religion and joined the Baptist Church, I met Dr. [W.P.] Jones, then a youth entering manhood, at Columbia, Ky. We were both pupils in a school being taught there, of high grade and considerable local reputation, by a man named Page and a lady named Boardman--he in charge of the boys and young men at the building on the hill there, called the Seminary, and she in charge of the girls and young ladies at a building with convenient arrangements, two or three blocks away; but several of the classes consisted of both male and female and recited together.

COLUMBIA, KY. (17 Apr 2017) - The occupant and operator has been identified as 38-year-old Richard B. Bennett of Columbia, KY whose remains were found in a burning vehicle after the fire was extinguished.

At the time the operator was unable to be positively identified due to injuries sustained from the fire.

The report from the autopsy procedures now officially confirm the driver's identity as Richard B. Bennett.

4-year-old juvenile airlifted to UK after being struck by car

Child struck by 1993 Geo Prizm in a private driveway, in Northern Green County, KY, on Easter Sunday. First transported to Taylor Regional Hospital, then airlifed to UK Medical Center, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
