Adair County Fiscal Court Meeting 14 Mar 2017 - Report At the Tuesday, 14 Mar 2017 regular session of Adair Fiscal Court
Click on headline for complete report By Ed Waggener The Adair County Fiscal Court showed it's resolve to clear the roadsides and countryside of litter with the establishment of a blue ribbon 10-person committee comprised of a passionate and dedicated environmentally friendly membership. Named to the Litter Abatement Advisory Committee were Magistrates Harold Burton (1) and Terry Hadley (7), and Vicky Pike, Wendy Burt, Doug Keaton, Tony Rose, Kelli Bonifer, CJE Andrea Waggener, David Smith, and Pam Hancock. The action came in the 35-minute meeting which held with Magistrate Billy Dean Coffey, (District 7) presiding in the absence of CJE Michael Lee Stephens. All magistrates, Harold Burton (1), Daryl Flatt (2), Sammy Baker (3), Perry Reeder (4), (Coffey), Greg Caldwell (6), and Terry Hadley (7), present. Magistrate Coffey said that the committee will have the counsel of Lisa Greer, now County Court Clerk, who was deeply involved in the highly successful Litter Abatement program headed by Solid Waste Coordinator A.L. Sinclair in the administration of CJE Ann Melton. Magistrate Coffey reported that Judge Stephens is now in his office about two hours a day, and that his recovery is going well. He said that Judge Stephens plans to conduct the April 2017 Fiscal Court meeting. He conveyed Judge Stephens thanks for prayers, cards and encouragement following his surgery. CofC Speaker's subject is one nobody wants to hear about By Linda Waggener The guest speaker at the March 14, 2017 Chamber of Commerce Meeting in Cranmer Dining Center at Lindsey Wilson College said, "the crowd may be lighter today because it's hard to listen to details about the painful subject of child sexual abuse." Chamber of Commerce President Ellen Zornes introduced the speaker as Loretta Burton Coppage, one of her own former Adair County Public School students and someone she knew would be great in this work. The speaker is now the Executive Director and Forensic Interviewer at the Lake Cumberland Children’s Advocacy Center, a non-profit agency dedicated to the mission to prevent further victimization of sexually abused children and minimize the emotional trauma.
