Mr. Jason Eli (Jay) Johnson, Campbellsville, KY (1974-2017)

His life followed a big-hearted and gentle path, and he spent much of it searching for peace and tranquility. As a father and CEO of the Happy Thoughts Collective, he would go from Tonka trucks to tea parties at every opportunity. Mr. Johnson studied and respected the Cherokee Nation and was honored with a farewell service by an elder of the native nations.

There will be a memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Johnson on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 4pmCT/5pmET, in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on 3pmCT/4pmET, Wednesday, February 1, 2017 until time for the service.

Trainers from the Appalachian Diabetes Coalition, Marshall University, were in Russell Springs at the Health Department last week to train people in gentle yoga for future health classes in the region. Mary Belle Gaines, 90, Taylor Co., KY (1926-2017)

Mary Belle was a retired lunchroom employee of Campbellsville Independent School System. She enjoyed being around the children and cherished the times working at the school. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. She was very active in the United Methodist Women and loved her church. She was a native of Knox County, KY, and a resident of Taylor County, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late John Wesley Livesay & Sarah Belle Castle Livesay and the widow of James Allen "Jimmy" Gaines, her husband of over 66 years. She leaves five direct living descendants.

Kimberle (Kim) Woodcock, 40, Columbia, KY (1976-2017)

Kim was a barber at the Town Barber Shop in Columbia, KY for many years. A native of Warren County, KY, whose early years were in Grayson County, KY, she earned the friendship of thousands of Adair Countians who were devoted clients, in, looking back, her all too brief years with us.

Lyle Heitz, 88, Adair Co., KY (1928-2017)

Mr. Heitz was a farmer, member of the Elks Lodge # 319 in Cripple Creek, Colorado and a member of the National Rifle Association. His wife, Marilyn Sweeney Heitz, Columbia, KY, survives.

Scott Alan Alsager, Taylor Co., KY/Iowa native (1955-2017)

He was a retired electronic engineer and of the Lutheran faith. He was a native of Des Moines, Iowa and a resident of Campbellsville, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Kenneth H. & Marjorie J. (Booth) Alsager. His wife of over 39 years, Diania R. Alsager, survives. He leaves eight direct living descendants.

Mr. Scott Alan Alsager of Campbellsville died on January 27, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Alsager requested cremation and will be inurned in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 700 Old U.S. 68, Campbellsville, KY, at a later date. There was no public visitation.

Important Healthcare Coverage under the Affordable Healthcare Act

Health Insurance coverage under the Affordable Healthcare Act through 2017 is still available, but the deadline for enrollment is January 31, 2017. To enroll online, go to this United States Centers for Medicaid & Medicare site: Healthcare.gov/Last chance to enroll.

The site offers two options, "Take the first steps to apply," for new enrollees, and, for those who already have ACA coverage, "Log In to Update or Change."

Amy Mouser will speak to Adair County Caregivers 1 Feb 2017

Respiratory Therapist Amy Mouser will be the guest speaker at the Adair County Caregivers Support Group meeting starting at 11amCT, Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Adair County Extension Building, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY. Her presentation will information for caregivers on patients with respiratory diseases. She will answer questions about breathing challenges, nebulizers, CPAP machines, and provide handouts to take home. The meeting is sponsored by HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital.
