Jeff Hatter, 60, Casey Co., KY (1956-2016)

Jeff was a member of the Valley Oak Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher. Jeff was employed by the Specialty Foods Group as a Key Account Sales Manager. He graduated from EKU with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He was also a 1974 Casey County High School Graduate. Jeff had a great love for his farm, his horses, and his church. Jeff was a "family man" as he loved his family with all his heart.

Jeff Hatter, age 60, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at his residence in Liberty.

Funeral services will be at 1pmCT/2pmET, Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Valley Oak Baptist Church, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Troy Merrick and Bro. Bobby Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Monday, December 19, 2016 and 7am-10amCT/8am-11amET, Tuesday, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, and from 11am-1pmCT/12pm-2pmET, on Tuesday at Valley Oak Baptist Church.

Kentucky Color: Lucy Clark Demumbrunn Chapter II

My GGGrandmother along with her husband and my GGGrandfather, their family and all our forefathers back in the latter half of the 1800's were having to deal with climate change issues even more severe than now. I suspect that climate change has always been a phenomenon which mankind has had to learn to negotiate. - BILLY JOE FUDGE

My Great Great Grandmother Lucy Clark Demumbrunn was born in 1850. That was the same year that most climatologists and historians consider to be the end of "The Little Ice Age".

The Little Ice Age was a, more or less, 300 year period of global cooling, especially in the Northern Hemisphere. Although there were no glaciers approaching the Great Wooded South from the Artic Regions; essentially, our climate has been warming in jumps and starts, ever since.

District 3 crews battle first winter weather event of season

BOWLING GREEN, KY (Sun 18 Dec 2016) - The District 3 snow & ice team spent most of the day Saturday monitoring forecasts to get a handle on the incoming winter weather. Skelton crews from all counties in the district reported in about 1amCT, with full crews reporting in after that. As heavy rain fell for most of the night on Saturday and early Sunday temperatures also continue to drop dramatically, creating the potential for icy driving conditions.

At approximately 11:08pmCT, Saturday night, December 17, 2016 power was off at ColumbiaMagazine.com main center near Downtown Columbia, KY, and did not come back on until approximately 2amCT, Sunday, December 18, 2016. When we called Adair 911 just after the outage confirmed that Fortune Street was not the only place having a blackout. The dispatcher said, "Yes ma'am, power is off all over town; transformer damaged, roofs blown off, and power may be off all night but they are working on it."
