KIA approves $504,000 more for Liberty, KY wastewater project

Construction scheduled to start in February, 1917. Construction is expected to take up to one year. The utility serves 875 customers. Additional funds were needed after 16 bids exceed original estimate for the project.

The Kentucky Infrastructure Authority (KIA) approved the City of Liberty, KY, request for an increase in a previous loan adding $504,000 to the originally approved loan of $4,156,000. The KIA approved the request for additional funding at its Thursday, December 1, 2016 meeting in Frankfort, KY. The loan is for upgrades and improvements to the City of Liberty wastewater plant. The loan is repayable over 30 years at a .75% interest rates. The increase was allowed after 16 bids for the project exceed original estimates.

Campbellsville Middle School students recently learned all about how to manage their money. Representatives from several local banks and organizations came to CMS recently for a Financial Literacy Fair.Students in fourth- through eighth-grade learned about savings accounts, how to write a check, how to use a checking account, debit card and online account and learned about budgeting and managing their money. Representatives from Taylor County Extension Office, United Citizens Bank, Forcht Bank, Citizens Bank and Trust Co. and Taylor County Bank attended the fair.

LWC's Oliver named 2016 AFCA Region 1 co-Coach of the Year

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson head football coach Chris Oliver has been named the 2016 American Football Coaches' Association NAIA Region 1 co-Coach of the Year, the organization announced on Tuesday.

It marks the fourth time in Oliver's career he has earned the regional honor. He is one of 15 coaches across all levels of collegiate football to be a repeat recipient of the honor in 2016.

He shares the NAIA Region 1 award with Reinhardt (GA) head coach Drew Cronic.
