Time to Opt-In for CodeRED Weather Warnings

By Mike Keltner, Director,
Adair Co. Emergency Management

As we will soon be entering our second year of CodeRED Weather Warning we would like to remind users that have not renewed their enrollment in the past year that they must opt-in to receive weather alerts.

CodeRED Weather Warning is an opt-in only weather warning product that taps into the National Weather Service's Storm Based Warnings. CodeRED Weather Warning automatically alerts affected citizens in the path of severe weather just moments after a warning has been issued. Calls are delivered so quickly they often arrive prior to any other public notifications, usually before television or weather radio broadcasts are aired, which will provide Adair County Residents extra time to prepare. Based on the National Weather Service's polygon methodology, only citizens in the path of projected weather are contacted.

This is an old store at McKinney Corner. This store sits on the corner of Hwy 218 and US 68/70. It is definitely an old landmark for everyone living in the Exie, Liletown, Pierce, Little Barren, Crail Hope and Newt communities of Green County. Rebecca Curry recently did a painting of this store and we have a print of the painting hanging in our kitchen.
