Many anglers, especially those who seek game fish such as black bass, trout or striped bass, release their catch.

"Catch and release works and is a good thing," said Dave Dreves, assistant director of fisheries for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. "But, if you don't handle the fish properly, your good intentions can be reversed."

JIM - The 71st wedding anniversary of my parents

They were quietly married a in Somerset, then set up housekeeping in a tenant house on Bottom Road in Russell County. Jim remembers today, on their in memory anniversary: "My folks didn't have an easy life, but their love for each other never faltered, never failed. They were married for 52 years and six days, my father passing on July 6, 1997. Less than a year later, Mother quietly, peacefully laid down her burdens in the wee hours of June 25th and crossed the River Jordan. To borrow a line from a great love song written by Terry Smith, I have no doubt my father "came running through the shallow waters, reaching for [her] hand." - JIM

A Very Proper Proposal: New statue of Adair native Evelyn West

Doug Beard suggests a way Adair Countians can remember Evelyn West - Anna Mae Coomer; the statue he suggests for the new shopping center would would be oriented toward Miss Victoria's Pampered Angus Ranch and Evelyn West's childhood home, Sparks/Breeding. - EW
Related: Birthday of Amy Mae Coomer, show biz' Evelyn West, Jan. 30

By Doug Beard

Maybe now is the time for action on the Evelyn West statue to be placed in New Columbia/Bliss!! And, we could face it in the direction of Sparksville/Breeding.

A center courtyard in the new shopping center, with floral gardens surrounding the statue, may be our best option. Who knows, this might inspire Victoria’s Secret to located their new store here.

Just a little fun but thought of her again when I saw this book featuring "famous" Adair County residents on e-bay.

Thanks and Happy Adair Country Fair Week!! - Doug

Our trip to Ireland continued by leaving Dublin and heading for Cork, the home of my ancestors, the Sullivans. I didn't allow time to connect with them for Sunday dinner, but I saw O'Sullivan on many buildings and felt at home. I knew Sullivans were primarily business people, but seeing the streets of Cork lined with O'Sullivan enterprises reaffirmed what I had always been told. Diving into my family heritage didn't exactly entertain Luke, our thirteen-year-old grandson.
