She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. She was a farmer and homemaker. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mrs. Brenda Sue Helm was born in Green County, KY. She was the daughter of the late John Pettit and Ella Wesley Wooldridge Pettit. She departed this life Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, having attained the age of 66 years, six months and 23 days.

The funeral service for Mrs. Brenda Sue Helm will be Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 2pmCT, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY, with Rev. Landon hadley and Rev. Adam Pruitt the officiating clergy. Visitation is after 9amCT, Saturday, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the New Salem Cemetery.

CHS senior baseball player named to all-state team

He'll attend Lincoln Memorial University

Campbellsville High School baseball player Chase Thomas was recently named to the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association's all-state team. Thomas, who graduated from CHS in May, was named to the third team. The left-handed pitcher plans to attend Lincoln Memorial University in the fall to play baseball and major in sports management. Kirby Smith is the head CHS baseball coach. Assistant coaches are Phil Gowdy, Zack Lewis, Blake Milby and Lynn Kearney.

The mayor and city council members need to remember that most workers haven't received a raise in more than four years. .. unless they work for a government entity. I have a suggestion. Columbia City Council Special Called Meeting - 16 Jun 2016

Council is considering raises for City Employees in coming FY Budget. If no action were to be taken it would be the fourth year without a raise. Mayor Hardwick presented three options. At the Columbia City Council Special Called meeting Thursday, June 16, 2016, the Council unananimously approved the second reading by City Attorney Marshall Loy, of the ordinance amending the Annual Budget for 2015-2016 Fiscal year. The vote was 5-0. Council members present were Craig Dean, Linda Waggener, Craig Lasley, Charles Grimsley, and Mark D. Harris.

Blueberries will be a featured attraction Saturday, June 18, in Edmonton, KY, a little more than 22 miles, a little less than 30 minutes from downtown Columbia, KY via ultra scenic KY 80 or the beautiful Louie B. Nunn Parkway.

The Metcalfe County Proud Festival is today, Saturday, June 18, 2016, 8am-3pmCT.

The Blueberry Pancake Breakfast will be 8am-10amCT on the Historic Courthouse Lawn, 100 E Stockton Street, Edmonton, KY.

Hornets Nest pickers and Molly Matney and Friends will begin at 2pmCT.

There will be a bouncy house for the kids, and arts & crafts on display, and many other attractions.

Billy Jack Conner, Russell Co., KY (1933-2016)

He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Russell Masonic Lodge #284 and of Freedom Christian Church. He owned a business in Jamestown, KY, for many years in Jamestown after retiring and moving here from Indiana. He was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. His final resting place will be in Clinton County, KY. Hiswife Lola Muse Conner, survives. He leaves six direct living descendants.
