LWC Softball wins twice, will play Cumberland on Sunday By Charlie Balcom Bowling Green, KY - The Lindsey Wilson softball team put together a pair of wins to keep their Mid-South Conference Tournament run alive on Saturday at Michael O. Buchanon Park. No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson (43-11) first defeated Pikeville (Ky.) 11-4 before taking down St. Catharine (Ky.) 4-0 to advance to the consolation bracket finals against Cumberland (Tenn.) on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT. The winner of that game advances to the tournament finals where the winner will have to beat Campbellsville University twice in order to lift the tournament crown. The Inspiration of LWC celebrated at 2016 Founders' Day Dinner President William T. Luckey, Jr., recalled inspirational personalities from Lindsey Wilson College's past at Founders' Day Dinner, but reminds audience: 'While nostalgia is nice, it can't distract an institution from focusing on its future.' Keynote speaker was Pulitzer Prize winner David Hawpe, introduced by Elise Luckey. Student addresses were given by Mariah Stearns and Abigail Calhoun. The Welcome was given by James R. Fugitte, Trustee and Chairman of the Development Committee. The invocation was given by Gabby Pyles. The music was by the Lindsey Wilson College Singers under the direction of Dr. Gerald T. William M. (Doy) Harden, Taylor County, KY (1941-2016) He professed faith in Christ and attended Farmer's Chapel Church of God. He was a 1959 graduate of Taylor County High School. His work career included over forty-five years in road construction and site work for Holderman Construction, Geupel Construction, Hinkle Construction and Adams Contracting. He worked in West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama and Tennessee. He enjoyed woodworking and fixing up old fiddles and other musical instruments as a hobby. He was a native of Taylor County, KY and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Albert "Dan" Harden and Mandy Susan Tungate Harden.
