Adair Co. Garden Club: Monarch Butterflies & Friends

Linda Porter, Danville, KY, will explain how to create a Monarch Butterfly Waystation. Alicia Bosela of of Iron Weed Native Plant Nursery, Columbia, KY will have native plants for sale to help get your own butterfly waystation started.

Spring is just around the corner, and it won't be long until everyone will be busy with their spring chores, but take time out of your busy schedule to join the Adair County Garden Club for their meeting on March 26, 2015 at 1pmCT, as Linda Porter will be educating us on Monarch Butterflies and how to create a waystation for the butterflies. This meeting will be held at the Adair County Chamber of Commerce Building 201 Burkesville St Columbia, KY.

Marybelle Godbey, Casey Co., KY (1930-2015)

She was a homemaker, factory worker, and member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was a native of Casey County, KY, the daughter of the late Cecil and Beatrice Durham Coleman. She leaves 28 direct living descendants.

Marybelle Godbey passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Charleston Healthcare Center in Danville, KY. She was 84.

Funeral services are 10amCT/11amET, Monday, March 16, 2015 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Springs National Cemetery, 9044 W. Highway 80, Nancy, KY. Visitation is Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 5pm-7pmCT/6pm-8pmET, at the funeral home.

ACHS Winterguard makes history in competition today

The Adair County Winterguard will be competing Saturday March 14, 2015, in their first ever competition in Adair County School History. The girls will travel to Montgomery County High School, 724 Woodford Drive, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353. The show is titled "Higher Love" and they are under the direction of Brandon Thompson, Natalie Walker, and Kaleena Thompson. They will be performing at 1:51pmCT/2:51ET. - DONALD HARE

Adair County High School Student G.R.I.T. team will be hosting a silent auction for approximately 200 surplus athletic trophies from Adair County High School teams. The auction will take place Thursday, March 19, 2015, from 6pm-7:30pmCT in the library at Adair County High School, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. The auction will take place during the high school's Academic Night Out. All bidding will cease at 7:30pmCT, and winning bidders can pick up trophies from 7:30pm-8pmCT.
