Alva Reeder Lofton, 82, Russell County, KY

She was a native of Jamestown, KY, and a resident of the city at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Bessie (Lee) and Roy K. Andrew, and the widow of Joe Edward Reeder. She was the matriarch of a very large, highly regarded family with many relatives in Russell and Adair Counties of South Central Kentucky and elsewhere. She leaves 58 direct living descendants, spanning four generations. Mrs. Lofton was a homemaker

Harry Lloyd (Buck) Confer, 81 Glasgow, KY (1934-2015)

He was a commercial painter and a member and Trustee of Cornerstone Church of Edmonton, KY, and a veteran of the Air Force. He was a native of Clarion, PA. His loving wife, Sue Thrasher Confer, survives. He leaves 51 direct living descendants.

Willie Junior Spears, Cumberland Co., KY (1930-2014)

He was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN, and a retired construction worker for McFerran Kane Company in Indianapolis. He was a native of Cumberland County, KY, the son of the late Roy & Ocie Opal Edens Spears. His wife, Donna Mae Spears, survives. He leaves 37 direct living descendants.

A heads up for high school students getting ahead with college with dual high school/college credits. This Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority program could make the costs less

Lady Indians fall to state's top team, Elizabethtown

ACHS team plays Elizabethtown closer than any other Fifth Region team had, last night at North Hardin High School in Radcliff, KY

Despite a brilliant effort, the Adair County Lady Indians' season came to an end tonight, March 6, 2015, after falling to the number one team in the state the Elizabethtown Lady Panthers.

The Lady Indians trailed by seven at halftime and by only three early in the third quarter. The Lady Panthers (30-2) used their size and quickness in the fourth quarter to finish the game with a 23 point margin 73-50. Our Lady Indians played them closer than any other Fifth Region team this season. The Lady Indians finished the year with a 25-7 record. Congratulations ladies on a great season. Alex Keltner and Harlee Smock were both named to the 5th Region All-Tournament team. --Brent Campbell
