Mr. Delmer Roy was last surviving Russell Co. KY WWII POW

One Adair Countian, Carl G. Sparks, and one Russell Countian, James Clarence "Jimmy" Edmonds, who served in World War II, remain unaccounted for

Thank you for running the obituary of Mr. Delmer E. Roy. He was the last surviving Russell Countian who was held as a POW during World War II.

Also thank you for posting the news release about the flags flying at half mast today in honor of Pfc. William T. Carneal. STORY. Among the 73,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and merchant marines who remain unaccounted for from the World War II era, there is is at least one Adair Countian, Carl C. Sparks, and one Russell Countian, James Clarence "Jimmy" Edmonds, whose Mom and Dad and two brothers lived a piece down the road from us on Bottom Road, just outside Russell Springs.

John Gentry Rush, 69, Burkesville, KY (1944-2014)

He was a native of Cumberland County, KY, and a resident at the time of his death. He was the son of the late James "Jim" Rush and Cassie Riddle Rush. His wife, Marie Savage Rush, survives. He leaves 6 direct living descendants. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and was a fishing guide, having owned Rainbow Guide Service for over 20 years. He was a follower of Shepherds Chapel, and a member of Cumberland Masonic Lodge #413.

Westlake is a great place for kids health today!

Westlake Regional Hospital is a designated kid's zone today, April 26, 2014, in addition to its regular patient care. The kids health event is a carnival with entertainment and many opportunities for health related activities.

The event is going on now through 2 p.m. with games, free healthy snacks, train rides, identification cards, inflatables and much more. Free dental screenings are available, t-shirts, water and bicycle safety plus helmet give-aways and many prize drawings.

A Boil Water Advisory is in effect for consumers of Columbia Adair Utilities District for customers on
Milltown Church Road, Atkins Road, Corbins Richard Road, Dimple Graves Road.
The advisory has been issued due to main line leak.

Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure.

Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using.

This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality. For more information concerning the Boil Water Advisory, contact Lennon Stone at Columbia Adair Utilities District, 270-384-2181.

Campbellsville University's Larry and Beverly Noe Education Center held a graduation celebration honoring its 2013-2014 graduates in Somerset on April 25.

"It's about service, Christian service," President Michael V. carter told the students, "Each of you has chosen a career in service and we are very proud of you." He said the three degree-completion programs offered in somerset -- social work, criminal justice and early childhood education -- are service professions, all about helping others in their lives as Christian servant leaders.

Lindsey Wilson faces Cumberland (TN) in the finals on Saturday. The Blue Raiders look to capture its 11th-straight MSC Tournament title and avenge a 5-4 loss to Cumberland during the regular season.
