Epicurean Critique: Good Fellowship at CR

Pam Shearer writes:
Had a reservation at Circle R for a Thanksgiving dinner. Had family in from out of town. Unfortunately, no TURKEY, but good fellowship. - Pam Shearer
Know what you mean: I didn't have a reservation, but when I decided to have turkey, later last night, I was too late; but met so many of the nicest people there who were all singing the praises of the turkey they had. But ordering from the menu was even better. Boneless Buffalo Chicken Wings with blue cheese and a side salad. It is my new Thanksgiving Dinner. It was more than I could eat, and I saved money. - EW

A Trail Town organization for Columbia/Adair County?

For developing walk/bikeways. If there's already an effort writer wants to join; if not, she wants to help organize one here

By Linda Waggener

Dear CM readers: I'm appealing for information among CM readers to help me connect with anyone in Columbia/Adair County who might be working from here with the state Trail Town organization efforts - creating connections for walk/bike ways.

Several counties, including Taylor, are at work on this around the state and I hope to join or help organize it for Adair. My personal contact information is below, or just share it with all readers by clicking any Contact/Submit button on CM.

Thanks. And Happy holiday weekend!

JIM: Report in 1908 of Mr. Sam Lewis and his airship

By Jim

I stumbled across this wee gem while researching another topic and thought it might be of interest to you. It appeared in the December 9, 1908 News in the "Personal" column. -jim
"Mr. Sam Lewis occasionally makes flying trips, being the only owner in town of an airship. He left here Monday morning of last week; went to Nashville, Chattanooga, Mobile and Atlanta, transacting business in all those cities, returning Tuesday night following. He is very fond of navigating the air." - Adair County News
Thanks, Jim: Indeed, this dramatically changes what many of us knew about the history of flight in Adair County. It would be nice to have a photo or other corroboration of the facts in the item - then maybe a historical marker. - CM
