CAUD board members vote to accept bonding company offer Deal lacks only attorneys for bonding company and Board Attorney Marshall Loy to complete paperwork with minor changes. Construction likely to start in a few days - completion expected in 90-120 days after Columbia, KY, contractor Stotts Construction starts project By Ed Waggener The Columbia/Adair Utilities District board voted 4-0 with one abstention, to accept the counter offer by the Merchantile Assurety Company to finish the utility's Phase 14 Project, which was abandoned in November by Southern Backhoe of Campbellsville, KY. Board Member Barry Stotts, whose parents company, Stotts Construction will enter into a contract with the Bonding Company to complete the job, abstained. The vote came on a motion by Member Tim Baker, with a second by Member Rudy Higginbotham, with Chairman Robert FLowers and Member David Jones joining for the 4-0 vote. The settlement was in the amount of $582,500. The vote was contingent on the District's Attorney and the Bonding Company making minor changes in the contract faxed to Mr. Loy earlier, principally that the contract for the completion work with Stotts Construction would be first with the bonding company. Immediately after that is done and the money is paid, the bonding company will assign the contract to the water district.
