Mrs. Dorothy Birde Perkins Wright, 96, of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Birde Perkins will be conducted at 11amCT, Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the Bennett Cemetery. Bro. Don Bruington, Bro. Robert Knight, and Mike Durrett will be officiating. Visitation is requested 3pm-9pmCT/4pm-10pmET, Tuesday October 9, 2012, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Campbellsville Police make endangering welfare of minor arrests

From Campbellsville Police Department

Campbellsville Police were called to the residence at 419 Bowman Street to answer a domestic disturbance call for service, today, Tuesday, October 9, 2012.. Upon arrival, Officers entered the residence to determine the safety and condition of the occupants. When they entered the residence, a quantity of illegal drugs was discovered. Officers investigated further and recovered packaged marijuana and $153.00 in cash. Officers seized the drugs and money as evidence.

Officers Ryan Jewell and Scotty Perian arrested Corie W. Barnett; w/m; age 36 and Ashley N. Barnett; w/f; age 24 both residing at 419 Bowman Street. The Barnett's were lodged in the Taylor County Jail under charges of (1) Trafficking in Marijuana less than 5 lbs.; (2) Endangering the Welfare of a Minor; and (3) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The investigation is continuing.

Lonis Taylor, 84, of Columbia, KY, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Norton Hosparus Inpatient Unit in Louisville, KY.

Funeral services will be Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Ralph Foster officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Wednesday, October 10, 2012.

Drivers taken to WRH, TRH after 2-car bypass crash

From Columbia Police Department

The Columbia Police Department responded to an injury accident on Veterans Bypass, on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at around 12:30pmCT,

The accident occurred when a 1996 Chevrolet pickup driven by James Absher, 85, of Columbia, KY,was traveling South on Burkesville Street and ran a red light and struck a 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by Mary Spencer, 28, of Columbia, KY, who was traveling west on Veterans Bypass. Absher was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital and Spencer was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital by Adair EMS. The accident was investigated by Columbia Police Department officer Jamie Cole.

Hints of what's to come this weekend are already in evidence for one of Columbia/Adair County's biggest events, Downtown Days. Monday, the Adair Annex corner was taped off, and the kit for the Rusty Nail Saloon, the stage for performances, was ready to start assembly. Things get underway in earnest Friday, at 4pmCT, when vendor booths open, and one hour later, kiddie rides begin. The main schedule is as follows:

LBN Parkway - Lane closure between mile markers 27 and 29

Crews will begin the placement of barrier wall Tuesday, October 9, in preparation for concrete overlay work on two bridge structures. Both directions of the parkway will be pushed down to one lane 24/7 between mile markers 27 and 29 while this work is performed. There will also be a 10' lane width restriction in place for both directions during the duration of this work which is scheduled for completion in mid-late November, weather permitting. This restriction has been changed from 11' to 10'. - KEIRSTEN JAGGERS
