KSP Post 15 Activity Report for September 2012

COLUMBIA, KY - During the month of September 2012, there were 20 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington. There were two fatal during the month of September in the Post 15 area:
- Capps, Caleb of Edmonton KY, was killed in Adair Co KY on 9/6/12.
- Bharatkumar, Batel of Albany KY, was killed in Clinton Co KY on 9/30/12.
This brings our yearly fatality count to 29 compared with 30 through this same period in 2011.

State wide fatality count stands at 543 compared with 537 through this same period in 2011.

During the month of September 2012, there were 1680 citations written, 350 courtesy notices written, 2326 vehicles inspected, 722 complaints answered, 94 motorists assisted, 88 criminal cases opened and 201 criminal arrests made.

Gamaliel, KY, Jeep driver dead at scene of fiery crash

Monroe County fire and EMS units assisted

GAMALIEL, KY - Tpr. Logan Richardson of KSP Post 15 is investigating a collision that occurred on Sunday morning, October 7, 2012 at 2:10amCT on Alexander School Road in Monroe County, KY. 29-year-old Joshua K. Hale of Gamaliel was traveling east on Alexander School Road and operating a Jeep when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle dropped off of the roadway and struck a tree causing the Jeep to catch fire. Witnesses were unable to get to Hale before the vehicle became engulfed in flames. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Local Fire and EMS assisted.

Drivers treated and released at TRH following 2 car crash

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Adam Davis is investigating a collision that occurred today at 6:30pmCT at the intersection of Hwy 289 and Mile Lane. 17-year-old Alexander Gupton of Campbellsville, KY, was traveling operating a 2004 GMC Envoy. He was turning left onto Hwy 289 from Mile Lane and turned into the path of a southbound 2004 Toyota Camry operated by 69-year-old Susan Davis of Campbellsville, KY. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Gupton was not injured while Davis was transported to Taylor County Hospital where she was treated and released.

Two injured in 2 vehicle collision near Lebanon, KY

Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY

LEBANON, KY - Tpr. Josh Dicken is investigating a collision that occurred today at 5:15pmET, 1 mile west of Lebanon on St. Mary's Road. 21-year-old Theresa Hartley of Loretto, KY, was traveling west on St. Mary's Road operating a 2004 Dodge Stratus. Hartley's vehicle struck a 2005 Chevy Impala in the rear as it was attempting to turn left into a private drive. The Impala was also westbound and was operated by 56-year-old David Mattingly of Lebanon. Both were wearing seatbelts but were transported to to Springview Hospital where they were treated and released.

The Adair County FFA Land Judging Team won first place in the Lake Cumberland Region competing against ten other teams on Thursday, October 4, 2012, in Pulaski County, KY

The Adair team - Austin Anderson, Evan Shirley, Trent Sparks, and Jameson Keen - won easily, placing thirty points over the second place team from Taylor County. Jameson Keen placed first high individually, and Austin Anderson placed third high individually. The team will advance to state competition to be held in Hardinsburg, Kentucky on October 31-November 1, 2012. - Diana Trejo, FFA Reporter

Campbellsville Police seeking information in attempted abduction

CPD seeking white male, short brown hair, fair complexion, about 30 years old, driving a Lincoln 4 door sedan, silver or grey in color, with Nelson County decal

The Campbellsville Police Department received a call today, Monday, October 8, 2012, reporting an attempted abduction and sexual assault on Old Greensburg Road.

At approximately 2pmCT, Campbellsville received a call reporting an attempted abduction and sexual assault on Old Greensburg Road - west. A female resident was walking home from work along Old Greensburg Road and was approached by a white male operating a Lincoln 4 door sedan - Silver (or Grey) in color - with Kentucky registration plates (bearing a NELSON county decal).

Driver of the car is described as a white male, short brown hair, appearance of facial hair (about 2 day growth), fair complexion, approximately 30 years of age.

Anyone having information or observing this vehicle is asked to contact the Campbellsville Police at (270) 465-4122.

Madison Central - Tournament of Bands ended up being a great day for the ADAIR Band Nation! During preliminary competition ADAIR won 1st Place in the AAA Division, Best Color Guard AAA, and Best Percussion AAA.

During the finals competiton ADAIR won Best Overall Percussion, Best Overall Visual, Best Overall General Effect, and Grand Champions! The ADAIR Drumline also won a spur of the moment Drum Off againist the host band Madison Central!! The Adair Band Nation could not be prouder of the kids and staff! - Shamarie Claiborne

ACHS Boy's Golf captures 10th Place in State Tournament

Best in School History. First time ever that team has qualified for 2nd day of tournament. Riley Grant's 80 and 70 rounds are best individual effort of team, and the historic best ever for any ACHS golfer

The ACHS Boy's High School Golf Team competed in the State Tournament this past weekend at Bowling Green Country Club, 251 Beech Bend Road, Bowling Green, KY.

The tournament was comprised of the 24 Regional winners and Runners-Upfrom across the State. The tournament format placed all 24 teams in play on Friday and only the top 12 teams in the State earned the right to play the next day for a State Title.
