Somerset Community College only KY school to get SIP grant SIP (Strengthening Institutions Program): Somerset Community college awarded nearly $1.8 million through strengthening institutions program grant By Allison Horseman News from Somerset Community College SOMERSET, KY (September 20, 2012) - The U.S. Department of Education recently announced the award of $5.4 million in new grants to 14 colleges and universities as part of the Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP). Somerset Community College (SCC) has been awarded $383,561 for the first year of the grant and a total of $1,890,717 for a projected five years. SCC is the only higher education institution in the Commonwealth of Kentucky to receive the award.
