Letter: New WRH CEO salary in range for under 50-bed hospital

Lois Cunningham writes:
The average salary for the CEO of a public hospital with less than 50 beds is 98,100 to 125,300. Our new ceo will be paid 123,000 for his first year at WRH. Although it is on the high end of the average salary for our type hospital I believe it is way less than our last offical CEO, and 177,000 less than Spectrum was paid for a year. I'm wondering how we determine what is paid for our health care personnel. - Lois Cunningham

Now is time of year to plant the strawberries

A Timely Tip from the Adair County Garden Club and the Adair County Farmer's Market

By Barbara Armitage

Really? Yes really - if you want to harvest strawberries next summer then now is the time to get ready to plant.

It's important to take the time to prepare your strawberry patch. Strawberries are sun lovers and need at least 8 hours of full sun each day. They prefer slightly acidic soil with a pH between 5.5 and 6.8. Much of Adair County soils fall into this soil pH but it's always a good idea to have your soil tested. Contact the Adair County Extension Office at 270.384.2317 for details on having your soil tested.
