By Shawna Wolford
Personal commentary

I have been hearing on a daily basis how taking a foreign language in high school is unnecessary. Working Cat: Jellybean

2012-08-24 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen. Chism's Hardware in Shelbyville is the sort of place where you can still buy a single lock washer or a handful of drywall screws, so it stands to reason that they'd make room for a store mascot. Jellybean keeps careful watch over the register whenever the other employees are tied up with customers.

Searching for Hancock relatives of late Jimmy Foy

A box of Hancock family archives found in Mr. Foy's home

By Lorri Kavich

I work in a residential building in Anderson, Indiana. Recently, one of our residents, Jimmy Foy, (brother-in-law of Georgia H. Hancock Foy) passed away and a friend cleaned out the contents of his apartment because he had no family to contact.

We found a box of family archives with his name on it in one of our many storage rooms today, including 2 paintings of young girls dating back to 1914. One of the paintings had the names Nell Hancock, daughter of Junius and Molly Hancock, and another with the names Betsy Damron Hancock, Sallie Bett Damron, and George W. Hancock on the back. There is a photo of the Hancock Hotel and a leaflet from a Thanksgiving banquet held at the hotel in 1908. There is a photo of Junius Hancock and other photos and items that I felt were too precious to throw away. I decided to Google the names and I ran across this website. Please publish this news and my e-mail address and/or office phone number so any interested family member can contact me. I would be happy to aid in seeing that these things make their way to their proper place. Respectfully, - LORI KAVICH 765-643-9441. lorri.kavich@rhf.org

Hospital and Ag issues: Amazed at how upset some got

I just think Columbia has bigger issues for people to be upset with other than a kid taking an ag class every single year of high school.

By Jamie Isabelle

I am just amazed how people have become so upset over the Ag issue.

I am not saying Agriculture is not important, however, I am certain that my parents and their parents never took an Ag class and were still able to manage to grow things.
