Louise M. Kilpatrick, Warner Ridge Road, Jamestown, KY, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at 8am, at the Casey County Hospital, Liberty, KY.

Services will be Monday, January 9, 2012, at the H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N. Main Street, Jamestown, KY, with Bro. Wendell Roberts officiating. Burial Ill be in the Murray Cemetery, Jamestown, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Sunday, January 8, 2012, at the H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel.

New Life and New Look to Downtown Area

CIMA, the Columbia Institute of Music and Art, will be on a whole new campus when it opens, tentatively on Monday, January 9, 2012, at 10amCT, in new quarters in the Madison Square, 203 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY. Move in of instruments and furniture was taking place Saturday, utilizing both the services of Galen Campbell for general moving work and the specialty piano moving skills of Elby Burton. CIMA's Madison Square suite will offer voice, instrument and Mandarin Chinese and Korean language instruction. Musical instruments be be sold at the location, and the private offices of TMCC, (True Men Coming to Columbia), a company with Nashville, Hong Kong, and mainland Chinese business ties, will be located within the large Madison Square complex. Closer to town, beyond the Chamber building, the white building in the of the photo, Thomas Construction of Russell Springs, KY, began a facelift to the Walker Building. All the area is within Walking Distance of Lindsey Wilson College.

RIO GRANDE, OHIO - Shardae Morrison-Fountain's 24 was too much for 22nd ranked Lindsey Wilson College to overcome, losing 78-73 in overtime against Rio Grande (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon, January 7, 2012, at Newt Oliver Arena. Junior Ashley Rainey and freshman Monny Niamke paced Lindsey Wilson with 17 points each, while junior Sarah Gillis matched a career-high with three 3-pointers to finish with a season-high 15 points.

KY Attorney General warns of tech support phone scam

Attorney General Jack Conway is alerting consumers about a new telemarketing scam that is making its way across Kentucky. General Conway's Office of Consumer Protection has received more than two dozen complaints since mid-November about a "Tech Support" telemarketing scam. Consumers report that the scammers impersonate tech support specialists who claim to have detected a virus on the victims' computer.

Louise Durrett Hodges, Green Co., KY (1939-2012)

She was a lifetime member of Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church, but actively attended Sand Lick Separate Baptist Church. She is widely remembered as a beloved singer and piano player with the Durrett Family Singers.

Fire engulfs vacant mobile home on Little Cake Road

News from the Adair Co. Volunteer Fire Department

The Adair County Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire Friday night January 6, 2012 at approximately 8:42pmCT. The firemen responded to Little Cake Road where they found a vacant mobile home fully engulf with fire. The mobile home was a total loss. There were 16 firemen on the scene for approximately one hour. - BRANDON MINTON
