Plum Point Coffee Can Fund showers Christmas blessings A dynamic Adair County congregation provided $200 shopping trips for 15 kids this year. The blessings flow two ways: 1) A lot of happier children. 2) Manifold blessings for the adults who accompanies them. The Coffee Club Fund is real Christianity in action. One can't visit a Plum Point Gathering without being deeply moved by the announcement board which so frequently shows more donations toward this year round ministry to others than to the church's general fund. Amazing. -EW By Ludora Feese Perkins We've done it again! This year, we at Plum Point made Christmas happier for 15 kids.Like we've been doing for several years, we took them shopping for what they really want (and probably couldn't get) and needed. Clothes, toys, electronics, and other items wound up in the shopping cart. Each child we take gets $200.00 to spend just for him/her self. We, who accompany them, get something, too---a real blessing! Thank you at CM for helping us spread the Word. If anyone would like to add to our Coffee Can Fund, our church mailing address is 6107 Knifley Rd., Columbia, KY 42728. -Ludora Feese Perkins 2011-12-29 08:08:17 | Comments | Printable version

Knifleyan recalls New Year 1947 dynamiting of pool hall stove It happened of a New Year's, Old Timer recalls, from Spain Knifley Fire Department will have New Year's Dance Richard Hovious writes: Ed: Careful! On my last New Years eve in Knifley (1947), my uncle Jodie threw half a stick of dynamite in the pool hall stove (it exploded), I got bombed for the first time (age 13) and Chester Garner disappeared! (He returned) Prologue to the book on Facebook. - RICHARD HOVIOUSRichard Hovious: Does this cryptic message mean you are writing a book? That Knifley will be famous for yet another author. Hope so. One note to readers: Knifley is a changed place. We haven't heard of any authentic outlaws up there this century. It's a downright gentrified place now, where lots of wealthy retirees cogitate high o'er its beautiful downtown, the church houses are packed on Sundays, and the men folk no longer hold "prayer meetings" on sabbath afternoons on the creekbank. One's more likely to see business people in three piece suits there than in law offices of Columbia, The time is long past since people there got drunk on alcohol laden lemon extract. Times have changed. -ED 2011-12-29 07:01:38 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Local History
