Constitution Square Site to be turned over to Boyle Co., KY

Boyle County plans to allow local organizations to use the structures for office and conference space."Boyle County is delighted to be partners with the Kentucky State Parks to preserve this important historic site," Boyle County Judge-Executive Harold McKinney said. "We look forward to Constitution Square having a role in our economic development and tourism efforts." For those who would like to visit the site, it is around 60 miles from Columbia: 1 hr. 11 minutes via Russell Springs, or KY 206 and Judge McKinney's boyhood home at Garlin, Adair Co., KY; 1 hr and 13 minutes via Knifley, KY and Spout Springs. Timmy Earl Wilson, Metcalfe Co., KY (1958-2011)

He was a member of a large distinguished Metcalfe County family. He was a life long resident of the Gascon Community in Metcalfe County. He was a retired Market Reporter for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, a member of the Cattlemans Association, the Soil Conservation Board and was a well known livestock dealer.

Timmy Earl Wilson age 53 of Edmonton, KY, died at his home December 21, 2011.

Funeral services will be held 1pmCT, Friday, December 23, 2011, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Hubbard Cemetery. Visitation will be 3pm-8pmCT, Thursday, December 22, and after 9amCT, Friday at the funeral home.

Esther Dudley, Adair County, KY (1925-2011)

She was a member of a highly regarded Adair County family. She was retired from Western Kentucky University and homemaker and a member of the Rockfield Methodist Church in Rockfield, KY. She attended the St. Marks United Methodist Church in Campbellsville, KY. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star # 435

Esther Dudley, age 86 years formerly of Columbia and Campbellsville, KY passed away Wednesday December 20, 2011 at the Medco Nursing Home in Bowling Green, KY after an illness.

The funeral service will be at 1pmCT, Friday, December 23, 2011 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with interment in the Union Cemetery, 174 Milltown Church Road, Gradyville, KY. The family requests visiting after 4pmCT on Thursday at the funeral home.

ACSO investigating death on Rooks Denton Road

On Sunday, December 18, 2011, Adair EMS, Sheriff Deputy Justin Cross and Coroner Todd Akin were dispatched to Rooks Denton Road in Adair County on a deathinvestigation. Coroner Todd Akin pronounced 50 year old Dennis J. Allison dead on arrival. An autopsy was ordered by Coroner Akin and at this time the cause of death is pending on results from toxicology report , but the cause of death is believed to be a heart attack. -ADAIR COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE.

Tradition of Giving album: Jones Chapel UMC delivers 100 meals

One of the most active congregations anywhere is the dynamic Jones Chapel United Methodist Church, located between Gradyville and The Flatwoods at 2267 Jones Chapel Road, Columbia, KY. One of the church's great traditions serving the community is to prepare Holiday meals for people in the neighborhood. This year, nearly 100 ham and turkey meals were delivered. Terry Partin shared photos from the event, which included, also, the making of a record size banana pudding by Phyllis Firquin.

We are missing our little white toy poodle named Sam. He has very light apricot ears and some spots on his back as well. We live in the Mount Carmel area of Adair County near Green River Lake. Sam was wearing a camoflauge collar with a rabies tag on it. He is a house dog but loves to ride and hunt. Our lives are not the same without him here. He is truly a member of our little family. Eighteen children get to Shop with a Trooper

The Kentucky State Police Post 15 "Shop with a Trooper" took place Tuesday, December 20, 2011, in Taylor and Adair County. 18 children ranging from ages 2 - 18 from the Post 15 counties were treated to pizza at Gatti's in Campbellsville and Pizza Hut in Columbia before being taken to Wal Mart to shop. Post 15 Troopers and dispatchers, members of the Post 15 Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association and friends of KSP participated.

KSP Cram the Cruiser breaks record

The Kentucky State Police "Cram the Cruiser" campaign more than doubled the amount of food collected this year with a total of 50,168 pounds. That's 28,582 pounds more than last year. Post 15, Columbia, KY, doubled their efforts of 1 year ago breaking the 2500 lb mark and finishing 5th in the state.

The food will be distributed to local shelters, churches or other organizations serving those in need during the holiday season. KSP Post 10 in Harlan, with the help of the Barbourville Police Dept. and the Harlan Co. school system, led the way with 14,436 pounds of food collected.
